Octane Boosters?
I just installed a Superchip in the Bolt(WOW!!). However position 1 is Pump Premium which is 93 here(Shell or Amoco). Position 2 is Racing gas 98 octane. The question I have for everyone is about octane in a can. DO THEY WORK and if so which one is the best. The truck will not be driven every day so the price is not a problem, and as far as getting racing gas I have not seen any in the area in a long timeso buying it is not really an option.
So thanks for any and all opinions.

Since AUGUST 99, I have always recommend the the NITROUS OXIDE OCTANE BOOSTER in the black box. Its the race version with Nitro Methane. Pep-Boys has them for around 11 bucks a bottle, and it's safe for the cats.

I've used the outlaw booster on my Gen 1 and it worked fine.A little more than most but less than the NOS. I've heard that it works for most detonating problems.I also heard that the NOS always works.I would have gone to the NOS next if the outlaw brand failed, but it didn't.I think I paid 5 or 6 dollars. Also sold at Pep Boys and K-mart, yes I said K-Mart.
Unburned hydrocarbons coat the platinum/palladium covered honeycomb inside the catalytic converter and prevent their reaction with oxygen. This not only renders the converter useless, from an emissions standpoint, but it increases fuel consumption and eventually causes the vehicle to stall due to backpressure on the exhaust system.
Back when I had troubles and had to use octane booster the only one that worked was the NOS offroad version, but I never tried the race version. The regular street version did not work, but all thats fixed now. Just my experience. Thanks Mike

Most of these additives are snake oil. Find a dealer who sells Sunoco 104 GT PLUS UNLEADED RACING GASOLINE. Not only will it run great but you will never have to worry about clogged or dirty injectors! At the strip I run a mixture of at least 60%-80% 104 to 93.

Also, try one of the small general aviation airports in your area. They have 100 (blue) or 110 (green) low lead, so no cats!! Most will sell to you if you tell them it's going to the track or if you put it in a can. I've seen it happen both here in CA and in MD.
