Cool 1999 / 2001 driveshaft comparison

Installed the 2001 driveshaft this afternoon. The new aluminum shaft weighs 20 pounds while the stock 99 steel weighs in at 25 pounds.

5 lbs. is a lot for rotating mass.Just as important is the absorbsion properties of the aluminum vs. steel.Though I would have guessed a little more difference in the weight, its still a 25% difference.

Would this be the sacrificial alter for the old parts deity or something?

Speedin Bob:
That looks like the 5" JDM aluminum driveshaft. If it is that is the same one I'm using on my truck. Its a pretty good piece.

Cool

No assjet 248 reading yet. It needs to be calibrated after dinner at Abuelos. I expect no discernable difference, but maybe .019 seconds in the 1/4? Very nice piece though and Speedin Bob is correct, I have a special "routine" that I go through with the new parts I add to the Go_rila. Mostly inscense and bananas....and stuff.
