Question about head lamp removal?
On the driver side it looks pretty tight. Does the antifreeze bottle have to be removed for access? Or do you get your fingers in between wich looks to be about a three inch slot? Thanks. Bob.
I think we are all alike...nobody reads the owner's manual! I started to take apart the shroud above the radiator until I looked at the owner's manula and it shows how to pull up two levers and the whole light asembly pulls out. The whole process of changing to new bulbs took me about 10 minutes once Iread the manual.
After you pull the 2 black L brackets you need to pop the entire lens out the front. When you look down the L brackets you'll see 2 screw posts to the outside and 1 to the inside, you can push on them while you wiggle the little nipples on the outside of the lens (insert laughs here).
Tip: When the lens is out you will have to disconnect the locking keyed connector from the lens. The key itself will break if you're not really careful. Remember the position of the keyed D lamp and cable so when you install the new one it is positioned correctly.
While the lens is in your hand you'll see the 3 posts with a guide above and below the post, now when you look at the guide holes you'll see the guide rails. Put one and one together and you'll get 3 in this case. You'll find out the you just can't slide the lens directly onto the rails, the turn signals will be in the way. You have to push the outside in first then the inside, this will only take about 20 times before you'll luck onto it.
Hopefully your truck is pointed closely to a wall and with one new light and one old you can compare the new colors if you're trying the new psudo-HID lights.
Good luck and kiss some skin goodbye.
