mod question

I know that theres lot of infomation of a lot of mods on here trust me I have looked but my question is 2003 lightning flowmaster exhaust, k&n cai, with about 48,000 miles should the next mod be a pulley and tune or could I go with a FTVB and no tune? Which woul be the better of the two? Thanks just getting back from a training exercise.

One is for more power the other is a drivability mod.

Do you want more power or?

I would do supporting mods before power mods.

+1 for the ftvb and traction bars or a driveshaft loop

Apparently there was a test done by SOMEONE, who posted a loss in torque numbers when running the Flowmaster catback, I for one think the Flowmaster system is low quality but I have not seen any proof of a power loss, cat backs do very little power wise, and if you like the sound keep your flowmaster till it rots off, which will be in a few years if you ever drive in rain or on salted roads.

The nickname "slowmaster" was coined for the system and basically made people stop buying it. Seeing as Flowmaster has yet to release an "IMPROVED" version means they either don't care about loosing sales (yeah right) or they tested it on another L and found no such loss in power, but simply do not have the inclination to post on the forums and dismiss the rumor, yes "RUMOR" is the term used when speaking of un-confirmed internet babble.

I would do the FTVB and a trans cooler, you will get ALOT more life from your transmission.

this helped me sort things out: http://www.kennebell.net/techinfo/fo...ngTechTips.pdf

another good one: http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/race_prep/index.htm

BTW, my vote goes to the FTVB and 4X4 pan first (which is what I did). Then when I had extra $$, got a 4#lower, programmer, TR6 plugs and on to a dyno/tune (using the Predator handheld)

Glad to help, and just do a search for trans cooler install and you will get all you ever wanted to know about installing one.

My information on the Flowmaster exhaust came from a personal talk with Johnny @ JLP, if you care; and no I do not run a JLP exhaust, but as Pit said a catback is not worth much but a better sound unless you have the headers and hiflow cats or no cats to support it.

just my $.02
