Post Stock CD changer question

I'm planning on keeping the factory head unit and CD changer for a while until I can save some more money. I have managed to change the door speakers and have an MTX amp and subs that I plan to install tomorrow. The subs are the MTX custom made ones for the F150, and the CD changer needs to be relocated to make room for it.

Where is the best place to relocate the CD player, and can it function on it's side without screwing it up? Like under the middle seat?

Thanks

Cool

Some folks have relocated it under the middle of the seat. I hear that it ain`t so hard and that the cord is long enough. Plus it is alot easier to access. Good luck

Thumbs up

It's easy to relocate. Just remove the changer and follow the cord along/under the pass side step in panel (you may need to unsnap it and remove it to get the wires in the right postition, but don't worry...it snaps right back into place) and get enough slack so you can run it under your pass seat and up to the "hump." There should be a hole in the carpet where your seat mounts to the floor, so just run the cord through there and don't cut your carpet.

As for the CD changer playing on its side, there is a little switch that needs to be flipped from "90 degrees" to "0 degrees" or "vertical" to "horizontal" (or whatever it says...you'll know it when you see it). I think I had to use a knife or pick or something to actually change its position.

To mount you changer on the hump under the center seat, use Velcro. You can buy those little packs of three strips at Wally World or Target. I know it sounds "ghetto," but it works. You can't see the velcro and my changer hasn't shifted since I did it a few months ago.

Thanks guys. I'm out the door with amp in hand... So far I'm really impressed with the way the F150 comes apart and goes back together.
