Holding Value... SVT vs SRT Trucks...

Just paid off my 2000 Lightning finally last friday. I extended the payments by refinancing to better my housing situation so it would have been paid off a while ago.

My truck is mint really with 24k miles on it. I see them for sale all around here 2000-2004's in the 30-50k mile range for 20k plus. Of course there are some selling cheaper but they are usually hacked up, scratched up and a mess. But I would say on average 17-20k is the average.

I found a couple SRT10 trucks in the same price range. 05 quad cab, 20k miles, 23k dollars. 06 regular cab with 16k miles on it, 26k dollars.

How's your areas?

well depends on how you want to look at it, used they are selling for about $5,000 more than a comprable condition L, but they stickered $13,000 more than a L New.

What was the question

Well, in the past year it seems that the value of the Lightning has dropped significantly. I bought mine back in Jan for 28k and now that I need to sell due to an expanding family, I can't get ANY interest from buyers at 25k...even with additional upgrades done to the truck.

I think gas prices, housing market, etc.....are contributing to a weak period for selling toy-like vehicles. I'm at the point of finding a storage facility to keep the vehicle in until I can afford a bigger house that has enough garage room to park it. :o

If anyone can avoid selling their truck now it would be a smart move. Between the cost of fuel driving everything up and the down turn housing market. its not time to part with toys if you can avoid it. Just my 2 cents make that 1/4 cent even thats devalued!!! LOL
