Post Magnaflow 12568, WOW!

I had a magnaflow 12568 installed today.

I wasn't expecting much from everything I've read on the forum.

I remember some saying, flowmasters weren't so great, JBA and Bassini(sp) maybe no lose, and 1 or 2 seeing a little (~10 hp) from the magnaflow 12568.

All I can say is WOW, the ***-o-meter says that the low end is a little stronger, mid end nicer, top end a little stronger. I've also noticed that the throttle response is noticeable twitchy (maybe like a OTB?) and the truck down shifts without a second thought. The truck really feels alive, the best way I can state it is, the truck some how thinks that it's 30 degrees colder. Maybe it's the combo that I'm running?

I'm susprised more owners haven't done this, or that those who didn't post the great results.

To whoever started this advice, thank you very much, sorry that I don't remember your username.

Total cost $200

Not bad, huh? Especially for under $200. It sounds better after time. Actually, I can hear both exhaust tips "singing" sometimes. And for those of you who know engines, know what I'm talking about.

PS Thank LTNBOLT - He's one of the first to put it on and recommend it.

Is it possible that the perceived power is related to the audible sound? Is the magnaflow 12568 strictly a muffler?

More aggressive sound makes it appear there is more power, hence all the ricers with their mango-shooters.

Just wondering...

Thumbs up

JL-Glad to hear you like that Magnaflow!! You'll love my exhaust now. The only thing I hate is I got alot of wind noise at full throttle because of the way I did the tips, but idle, part throttle and cruising is just plain awesome. You'll be able to check it out at the WFC. See ya then!!

Frans,

The Magnaflow is strictly a muffler, with what looks like 2 in 2 out and an x chamber inside.

I personally think they are as quite as stock, the only time I noticed a different sound was when both windows are down and you at WFO next to something wall, car, van what ever. If you want thump, thump, thump, this is NOT the muffler for you, but a shorter Magnaflow 12468 was mentioned for louder sound.

I like the clandestine sound.

ciione,

I'm sorry I can't answer your question; I walked into this hole in the wall muffler shop. Told the guy if you have a 12568 I'll give you $160 bucks, installed. He didn't bite, he said that he has done 3 or 4 in Dallas already with Flowmasters and it's not real easy. We agreed on $200 tax-free, took the guy 2 1/2 hours but did a meticulous job. All of us engineers at work where on the ground looking under the truck with shirts and ties on, a pretty funny site afterwards.
