Drove a Stage 3 Roush
I had the chance to drive a pre production Roush Mustang last Friday. It has a 360hp 4.6L (Eaton Model 90). The car performs very nicely. Handling and braking were great. This was the top end package and will be limited to 350 units. It was a convertable and was very solid. I have not driven any Saleen cars but I have seen many over the years, they seem to have more cosmetics and other things for the money. This car had a stock shifter and a stock stereo. I really like it but I can't justify the price very easily. Our trucks are a very good value when you see what you get in other vehicles!I was told this engine will soon wind up in an Explorer! If that happened it would surly give us a great run, but at a steep price, as this car will be ~56k.

Before you L owners lament the loss of OUR tech to those less deserving models consider the future. By the time any factory Exploders are driving around with 360hp, the L will be at 500!
My bigger fear right now isnt loss of out tech, its loss of jobs and declining economy and a president who simply reports what he sees, but doesnt take the reins. He should be instilling confidence, not down talking.
I want my biggest financial problem to be getting chrome 20's or not, rather than how to sell an expensive truck in a declining economy.
I'll talk it up, i'll even post it by its lonesome so not to bother you with more of my ramblings.

blueblood,
Nice car---but it can't haul my expensive fishing gear to the ocean like my Lightning!!hehe.
Hey, did it again Friday night--spent 99 cents on chicken livers and caught a nice 3.5 pound catfish 4 minutes from my house! Way cheaper than that deep sea trip and more action.

these are the best of times, the worst of times. reddawgy I hear you and things are still going to get worse before they get better you can take that to the bank. or to your broker (then the bank if it's still around hopefully).
I think it's a travesty all the problems L owners have to put up with: door cracks, front end clunks, I/C leaks, trans failures, valve clatter, piston slap etc. and it's more than enough to scare me away. I don't need the hassles and would be SO PISSED, I already am upset reading how some here have been treated. Hear that Ford you have lost a customer and I won't even consider this again unless/until I hear how everything's been made right for all these L owners. there's got to be at least one strong point and it's supposed to be powertrain dangnammit but this one's fatal?!~??? Cmon move the damn IC if you have to, a truck has loads of room to work with.
Good luck you guys, the L is still the baddest street truck out there.

Reddawgy - Yeah, it's ashamed what the president has done to the economy in less than two months or something.
Anyone who bought this truck thinking that 100% of the problems would be worked out by production time has got to be a bit naive. I think Ford has done an awesome job on the Gen II Lightning and that comes from a first-time Ford owner who has lost two intercoolers already.

ptong...I have had my truck for 9mo/9000mi and it has yet to see the inside of the Ford garage. Be real do you think every one of these trucks are lemons? I doubt you were ever going to buy one in the first place. Go get your Honda if you want a trouble free car, sounds like what you need. If you want to drive the baddest pick-up truck ever made then you deal with it.
Pete,
As far as the expensive fishing gear, thats why the top goes down! You keep on practicing and next time you can bring your chicken livers on the big boat
I hope to get to Ca. some time this summer, If I have enough notice mabey you can get out there also.
Blu,
What, me out playing!!! I wouldn't think of it! I wouldn't give up the truck, we are looking for a toy for Joan to play with. I think the Cobra sounds like a better value than the Roush although the Roush would likely stomp it in all arenas. Spend 20k on mods for a Cobra and see what you get. I will email you today.
Fritz,
I was with a Roush rep and he mentioned the Explorer thing. They do a lot of development work for Ford among others.
