You need far more than just the heads. Intake, exhaust, and a bunch more. Summit Racing has complete motors blower to oil pan for a mere $38k.

Yea thats the Ford GT engine you can get the GT500 engines oil pan to SC for around $16-17. Thats what we are doing with 2 trucks here right now that we are doing like that but with our Aluminum 5.4 Ford GT underneath and 3.4 Whipples on top.

We also have Kooks custom headers for people doing this swap ....just FYI

This has already been acomplished by DMP for the world's first GT500L. We ventured out and installed a 5.4 Shelby engine into an L many months ago, it took a little bit of time considering this was the first ever, but within a month and a half we had her purrin' like a kitten, and now she is running completely stock except the GT500 3.4 as a daily driver with approx 610hp at a mere 5900rpm.

Hate to break to some of you, but we have several other builds in the works that are going to scare you like you ain't never been scared before...

Hope to see you at a track soon... Stan@DMP

Oh PS. Don't believe everything you read, we can set you up with a GT500 crate for under $15k to your door, or under your hood. We contacted Kooks a long time ago about setting us up with some headers for this application, so your welcome to others.. Stan

I think he was asking if you could put the Shelby heads on an L engine. Not the whole shelby engine.

MM&FF had an issue with a GT500 making over 800rwhp with a KB 2.6. How long the GT500 rods will last is another question.

Isn't one of those two trucks yours??? Will you be getting it back in this lifetime or will you bestow it upon your 'next of kin'...

2 weeks man...2 more weeks!

If the GT500 rods can handle this amount of power and still be reliable I think I'd rather go with the stock GT500 conversion then going with a built 2V setup. hmmm.

Anyone know what power levels the stock GT500 motors can safely handle?

AHHH.. If only it were so simple.

Heres a few pics of some modifications that need to be done to have steering (because of location of alternator)

GT500 mock -up engine in my L

The new steering rack and bracket so I could steer the L
