Cool 2001 L - 1/4 Mile and more!!!!

OK people,

What is going on, SVT average times ¼ mile on a 01 is 13.9 stock. Some will run 14.2 -14.3 others 13.6 - 13.5 - 3 to 4 tenths fluctuation.
If you have a fast truck assume you run 13.6 – 13.5s bone stock, replace just the filter 13.5 – 13.4s 800 miles on the odo. 1400 miles change your oil, sparkplugs, replace the standard filter house for a Airaid and a 10” big mouth, add a chip run 96 octane gas and drive 600 miles, go to a strip 2000 miles on the odo, preheat your F1 tires to 160 degrees F and go for it.
TAKE ALL THE ABOVE IN CONSIDERATION DO YOU ALL REALLY THINK THAT 12.66 IS THAT EXTRAORDINARY.
COME ON - THE 01 HAS 20 MORE HORSES ON THE FLYWHEEL, BUT YOU SHOULD ALL KNOW, IT’S NOT ONLY THAT WHICH MAKES THE 01 QUITE A BIT FASTER. 3.73 AND MORE. I do not understand why most of you compare 99 and 00 with the 01.
There will be a lot of 01s in the future with excellent times.
Conditions - no wind – 63 degrees F – 3500 ft (Btw there are multiple 00 and 99 on this board running in the12s on higher altitude than 3000 ft) Yes it was a G-Tech.
A lot of people on this board use the G-Tech Pro, the results are mostly consistent and adequate. It’s easy to find out, when you go to the track take a G-Tech with you and compare.

MAYBE IT WAS MY DYNOMAX ULTRA FLO SS MUFFLER THAT MADE ME RUN 12.66.

Later and good luck, you all drive safe.

FD
12.66 @ 110.22 Mph - 12.69 @ 108.32 - 12.86 @ 105.01

A lot of guys have switched to 3.73 & 4.10's. Ya they help, but not that much. Also 20 more hp is not going to lower your times to mid 12's compared to the 99-00. I want to see what your truck does at a real 1/4 race track. I dont think you will hit 12.6' @ the track. Do you have a track near you to try it at? I guess you will hit low 13's to high 12's (given your temp & elevation). Plz report what you run there.

I thought something was off. El Paso's drag strip is not the best (Ive raced there) and it is 3500 ft. I was wondering about those 1.69 60 ft times on F1's.

How in the world do you get 60 foot times on a g tech? One time I ran a 12.66 on my g tech but could never duplicate it again. I suspect it wasnt level or something. Oh well his claim sure stirred us up a bit!

Sorry FoyingDutchman but I think that you got a bad G-tech. Also how do you know your 60-foot times. Their is no G-tech that will tell you your 60 foot times. I guess what I am trying to say is show me a time slip that reads 12.6 and then I will beleive it!

Cool

With 250 miles on the clock My 2001 G-Tech average of two runs, same road both ways was
13.92@104.2
0-60 was 5.5

Temp was about 52 degrees per the console.

With Sal`s conical. No chip and a passenger weighin` in around 190#.

240# for Myself. 1/4 tank

lots of wheels spin.

Also besides the new heat exchanger the intake is said to be 50% larger on the 2001.
The mass air is 90mm and the fenderwell hole has been opened up somewhat. As for the larger intake not sure if that affects things so much. They do claim 20 more HP stock than the 99-00. Also I have read the intake runners are straighter. But that couldn't make a difference...right? I imagine there are alot of stock gear ratios in the 99-00 trucks . Sure the drag racer is sure to change that. My truck feels quicker and stronger than My 99 and I had PSP chip and filter, Ran Mobil 1 and watter wetter in the intercooler and block. Also straight pipes***note here, the straight pipes sounded fantastic but I do feel I traded some low end torque for top end HP. A seat of the pants thing here. Stock F1 tires but the new compound does seem to bite better. My autometer boost gauge that showed 10.5 lbs. of boost on the 99 shows the same 10.5 on the 2001.Claims were made that the chip, where just the shift are concerned ,gave you 3-4 10ths off the 1/4. Get to the strip and lay down the smack.

One more thing.

Superchips are known NOT to have the most aggressive programs. If you are trying to claim anything below 13s with a regular superchip, no matter what program it is and we all know the first ones are far from the later ones which means your chip is not all that great as you may think,You are greatly mistaken. If you had a JOHNNY LIGHTNING chip and a intake,Your claims might be more beliveable but not with a superchip R-9 or similar program.

Question to all,Is there anybody in here just running a regular superchip/intake(Not custom program from JL,J,Lightning,Swanson )running in the 12s with no other mods?

Quick,

We'll see what JDM has to offer when my local track opens. Nothing 'custom', straight up street/strip chip.

Since the muffler upgrade offers only auditory enhancement , do my mods count?

I think most found the GTechs to about about a 1/10th off. Regardless of which, you truck is still running nice.

You do have the benefit of all of the computer chip programming that has built up from the 99-00 to carry over. Since I've been on these boards I've seen the chips getting better and better.

Short of the new intercooler manifold on your motor, there is nothing a 2001 has that a 1999-2000 can't get. In the end, I don't imagine 2001's being sigificantly faster then a 1999-2000 after mods. Stock, hell yeah, they'll be faster: bigger MAF, more aggresive computer, better driveshaft, better F1s, less-restrictive intercooler manifold, 3.73 gears....

Lightningquick,
The straighter intake runners will make more power due to the increased velocity of the air entering the motor.
