Post ??? for 01 owners

After waiting 6 months for this truck there was no way I can "break it in easy". 2 weeks and close to 500 miles. Man is this thing is awesome!! No races yet but I have had a lot of fun. I have noticed some weak points however(be easy on me guys). First off I am only getting 8 lbs. of boost. Second there is a lag at 40mph and at 80 when I punch it. It's not bogging but against an f-body I feel they would eat me up. I should know I had one. Is this normal? I understand that a chip would fix this and so would more miles. Just looking for some input.

been so long since I have driven my L without the chip that I had forgotten about the lag. Yes it is there, at least on my trucks before the chip. Your boost is not going to go up until you open up the intake. Add a filter and a throttle body and you will be around 10 lbs. Then bolt on a pully and you will peg the guage. All it takes is some money, but it will be money well spent.

I don't know about the bog, or lag. Only thing like that I know of is on the downshifts. And that goes by quickly. Now I'm not saying anything is wrong with your truck, b/c all trucks are different. But I was pegging the boost gauge into the black the first night I had it. (50+ miles on the odo) Let it break in some more. You'll notice a difference.

I just broke the 500 mile mark myself. I had a hard time getting 8 lbs of boost until today. All of a sudden I am noticing the boost coming easier and stronger. Maybee yours and mine are just a little tighter and need some extra miles to loosen up.

One thing I do notice is that I do not get much boost in first gear is that normal?

Same here, 500 miles and gets to 9-10 fairly easy.

I see the boost gauge spiking around 10 psi on a fairly consistent basis. :-) Might be needle sway. No mods yet.

As for your lag, are you in Overdrive?
