Just got back from 14 month deployment

So the wife gets the truck out of storage while I'm flying home and takes it to Ford to get an oil change and tire rotation. On the way the right rear tire starts to smoke so she adds a brake inspection. In Hawaii you have to get a safety inspection done every year so she adds that as well. During the safety inspection they tell her that the front plate can't be zipped tied to the lower grill. Even though it has been like that for years and it never has been an issue. So Ford drills two new holes in the bumber and mounts the front plate. The plate bracket cost me $67 and labor was $46, $113 to put a front plate on WTF! During the brake inspection they found out that the rear axle seal was leaking. They said it would take all day and if I had them fix it he would take $100 off because of the price of the plate bracket.

Should I find someone else to fix this? What are my options?
RIGHT REAR AXLE BEARING $76
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL $ 13
BRAKE CLEANER (2) $8
PARKING BRAKE SHOE $124
GEAR OIL (3) $ 22
LABOR (all day he said) $$$$?????????

Welcome back, glad you are safe! (from a fellow soldier)
First rule of thumb, never let your wife take the L to the shop for anything other than an oil change, mechanics will find any and everything that is wrong, fix it, and charge an arm and a leg.(you made it back with them, so I know you want to keep them) Fix the axle yourself. I know you will get a little time off, so use it to get the L back to par. Oh, I know you are pissed off about the holes in the bumper. I wont register my car (stang) anywhere else but my home of record (no front plate) for that fact, don't want holes in my bumper. Anyway, welcome back and God Bless.

drive shaft seal replacement

if its the seal you can do it urself, i just changed both sides on mine not even two days ago. your guna have to change your rear diff fluid and buy some gasket maker to put the diff cover back on but its not that hard of a job. took about 3 hours from a nonexperienced mechanic (me )
