Thanks, 343hp! Torque was pretty nice also.

343 H.P.!!That computes to 411 H.P. to the fly wheel!Talk about under-estimating!!

It has been repeatedly stated in the past that the Lightnings drive train is very efficient and measures losses at only 11-14%.

That would give that truck around 385hp...which sounds about right.

Wink

Drivetrain losses are NOT a percentage they are a fixed number.

Drivetrain losses are always a percentage. On an automatic they are from 19-22% and 16-18 % on a manual vehical. The loss goes up as the H.P. goes up.Its never a fixed number.Just add the 20% to the RWHP and that IS your flywheel H.P.

Also the only efficient drivetrain is a driveshaft connected to the flywheel! If any thing the L's H.D. deisel inspired trans. is slightly towards the 21-22% loss side.My point is that the engine is rated conservatively at 380 like the 99-00 L's were.I beleive the H.P. is closer to 400 in real numbers. The bottom line is the RWHP # of 343. That says it all.

Cool

How did Ford suddenly find the key to make an automatic drivetrain so efficient. Ford and Dodge are the worst about this. The manual Mustang GT was always quite a bit faster than the automatic. In GM's case there is usually not a nickels worth of difference between a manual and automatic at the track. I don't know how they do it but they do.

Yes LTNBLT efficient as far as clean shifts, temp and strength. But these qualities have a slight price of H.P. loss to the rear wheels. That was my original point.I personally prefer it that way.Its the over 400 H.P. at the motor I was getting at.
