Built engine problems

I figured you guys may know a thing or 2 as to what is wrong here... I have a break in tune from a well known tuner that has done perfect work on the first try many times. Here is what I have:

1998 F150 (5.4 stock)
E4od tranny
JLD2 computer code
F150 5.4 wiring harness
Built engine
Stock heads
crower cams
42lb injectors
ba2400 maf
walbro 325lph fuel pump
ported eaton
2.75 upper, 8lb lower
New coil packs
NGKTR7IX plugs
CAI
pcv filter
EGR delete (not sure if tuner turned it off)
tps adjusted to .99

Here is what Happens.
it idles rough, sometimes dies, smells strong of fuel. When im driving, it will run OK until I get in boost, then it falls on its face, if I hit the gas hard from a slow roll, it will backfire, pop and cut out then i have to rev it a little to get it to run smooth.

I have a 2000 stall with a shift kit also. When it shifts into OD, it seems like the converter unlocks and it goes in hard. thats tuning im sure, because it didnt do it b4 the engine swap.

Tell me what you guys think.

What is your fuel pressure? Sounds like a fuel related problem. 325lhr pump seems pretty strong for what you are running.

thats what everyone is telling me. I have a fp controller that runs off the tps. I guess ill go to autozone and see what they have to test my fuel pressure.

ok I believe the problem has been found. My fuel pump controller would not let me turn the voltage up or down, then all of a suddon it started running the pump constantly with the key off! I pulled off the power wire, and I Figured the relay on it stuck or something. I put a new one on it, same relay, just a new one, and it still ran constantly. So by the looks of things, it was giving that 325lph pump full power all the time, and would you think that would be causing my problems???

Check to see if the pumps HI / LOW circuits are jumpered to allow only the high.

Ok UPDATE! Its alive! it idles! Talked to mike for a long time, came to the conclusion my controller for the fuel pump is faulty. We figured out how to bypass it and still get a dropped voltage for my pump. I got it all figured out. Went to start the truck, would not run still, no power, *&($&^ yea i was really mad. I decided, I have to know what the fuel pressure is. Went to autozone and all they had was a tester for 92 and older fords. hmm.. It has to work, got home, it did work. Put it on, turned the ignition on/off 3 times, NO pressure at all! hmm that cant be right, i took the tester off and pushed in on the pin in the shrader valve, just kinda puked out, no pressure. Ok so this is great news to me. I go to the fuel filter, pull that line off, no pressure, fuel just dripped out. ok, got to the pump, no pressure there. Took the tank off for a 3rd time. Pull it out, it all looks ok. I blow in the outlet end of the pump and fuel dumps out between the threads on the line going to the pump, its about ready to fall off! I tighten that and reinstall it. well I dont know what I did, but now my float is stuck and reading 1/4... great, I have to take it off a 5th time, but not now! I put the gauge back on and it read 42psi at idle. It runs great, idles great, but it still cuts out a little in boost. I'm sure its just in the tune, it has to be. I'll do some more data logging tomorrow.

the problem might be from using the TR7 plugs.....the consensus seems to be those are only need for an all out drag truck, like something running 10's, etc. I could be way off here, but just something to think about....

Words can not express how important it is to DOUBLE CHECK that entire fuel system (fuel pump controller probs, then all of a sudden probs, great I have to take it off a 5th time probs, its about ready to fall off probs, we figured out how to bypass it and still get a dropped voltage). It sounds like a lot is going on with you fuel system and it is BY FAR #1 in importance. With a pump set up like that (I assume you have "1" pump ?) and a by-passed controller I sure would want to know whats happening at WOT. I would DEF install a Wide Band Comm or a Pressure Gauge so you can monitor it.

BEST OF LUCK BRO NOW WHERES THE NEW DAM SMOKEY PICTURES

yea well the fuel system is great, Just stuck at 42psi at idle. I'm going to see if JJ can make an adjustment for that. Id really like to find an adjustable fuel regulator...
