Post Good Laugh Dealing with a Service Manager

I woke up today to the leaky intercooler problem. So I called the SVT hotline to try in get the scoop on the permanent fix. I had no luck the guy had no idea about a permanent fix, so I then called the dealership about the problem and while talking with the Service Manager he asked me if I thought the problem could have been caused when my truck was stolen about a year ago? I bursted into laughter for about a minute (can't believing this idiot is going in this direction) I then told him this:
I had put 12000 miles on my truck since it was stolen about a year ago what do you think. His reply "Will you never know" this idot has not heard the end of this. I would love for them to try in not fix this under warranty. I have 17000 miles on the bolt and about 300 other people have had the exact same problem. I'm not a lawsuit happy type of guy but this idiot really ticked me off. Where does he come off being a blatent idiot.

I will be dropping the truck off next Thursday for them to check out and will keep everybody informed.

I thought being an idiot was one of the job requirements of being a service manager. When I came in with my IC leak, the SM indicated that he had never heard of such a thing. He was not quite as bad as one of his brilliant techs who indicated that the intercooler was a non-serviceable system with sealed coolant. Imagine that effing idiots like that turn wrenches on our trucks!

Glad to see you still around Asdeman, albeit under unfortunate circumstances.

If it is any consolation, both the Service Manager and Tech said F150's don't have intercoolers.

Asdeman;

Here's a suggestion - if they say that the damage was caused by your truck being stolen, call your insurance company and tell them that Ford says that the intercooler was damaged when the vehicle was stolen.

Then get some popcorn and a chair and watch them fight it out!

Either way you won't have to pay for it.

I feel your pain. I have been dealing with the dealership here in LR for two weeks now. They now have a new computer for my truck, and cannot get the keys to work with it. So, now they cannot even start it.

Asdeman;

I'd like to tell you your awesome ride has been a source of inspiration for all my mods over the past 10 months. Beautiful truck!

One question. How on earth was your truck stolen? I thought our trucks were near impossible to steal. Did they somehow get your key?

Terry,

Your Service Mgr wouldn't by chance be Kenneth Hines at Reynold's in Norman would it? I've had a big run in with him about 2 years ago. Basically, they put the wrong parts on my college truck (1992 F-150 4x4)and I discovered it about a year later (radius arm bushings - Twin I-Beam setup). I was screwed out of $500 of my college $$$$.
Try going to Dub Richardson or Fred Jones. Also, touch base with Albert, Alan and Eric as to their experiences with Ford SVT service in the OKC/Norman area.
BTW, do you run at Thunder Valley. I plan on meeting Alan and Albert there in the spring and summer.
Take care and good luck ....

I had the same problem back in January. The Dealer's service department had visited that river in Egypt-- denial. 6 days later, there was mysteriously no leak (or so they said). I am currently waiting for my truck back. It's been in there having it's IC replaced for the last 10 days. Have them order the part before they take it apart, or you mak be in the same situation i'm in. Lightning Withdrawl. No truck!

Hey Terry, Sorry to hear about your truck, but sadly I think it may be happening to me as well. Its a little lower than the other day when A-Lightning and I were looking under the hood. So, if you dont mind, I would like to know who here in OKC you are using in case I need it for future refernce besides the billion posts online.

Thanks,
Eric

Speedin Bob: Yeah I don't think I ever leave the Lightning Family, I'm hooked and will be first in line for the 3 Generation Lightning.
I heard a rumor that you purchased 4 new F1's
thru White' Tire service is that correct and if so did you get a good deal??

Red Racer: Thanks for the comments, the best thing about my Bolt is that its paid for. BTW, I'm thinking about putting it in some shows later this year. I was my fault that it was stolen, I travel about 70% of the time and left the damn keys in the tailgate lock at the airport.

My2003Lightning: I have been dealing with the old Dub Richardson and have straightened everything out now, I'm good friends with ALbert and have been looking forward to meeting Alan and Eric. I did'nt get a chance to run the bolt at the track last year but street raced a few friends that now very sad owners of 1999 & 2000 Corvettes.

Mister SVT: Eric I have straightened everything out with Dub Richardson, It maybe a false alarm on the intercooler leak, I notice the piece of tape I put on there to markthe level had came off so it maybe just me being paranoid but I still have an appointment on Thursday for other minor problems.
