Smile First Bath

After having it for 1 week, I finally got a chance to give it a good wash. It rained pretty hard for a couple of days after getting it and I just could not stand seeing all that dirt on her. With my luck the rain started again only after a couple of hours after I washed her. I washed her all over again the next day and put on 3 coats of carnuba wax and took the following pics, what a beauty.
I've only got her for only 2 weeks and I already got 1100 mi. Man I can't stop driving her. The first thing on my to do list tomorrow is an oil and filter change.

Question

Hey Surfsup,
Does the engine in your new Lightning have ANY vibration ANYwhere in the Rpm range??

Please believe me, I'm "NOT" trying to seem like a rainy day, or worry you, but many of the '99,'00 and now reports of the '01 lightnings having engine vibration. My '00 had a srill vibe @ 3000 to 3400 rpm. This can be duplicated sitting still in park and also any forward drive gear when passing through this rpm range. Whe my new '01 arrives and has this
vibe, I might re-think taking it.

Thank's this is just like the one I have orderd...BEAUTIFUL TRUCK!!!!

J.

xjmd44-My truck does not have the problem, but thanks for the heads up. When did your truck's vibration start? I've only driven my truck up to 3500 rpm since I got her 2 weeks ago but will keep an eye on this.

Pretty truck man, very nice. I like changes for '01, but am reeeeal happy with my baby. Yellow carnuba paste wax, thats all i'm saying There is no substitute!

I dont know nothin' about no stinkin' vibration! Were you talkin' to me? hehe, good huh?

And 3500 rpm in 2 weeks, take it back, you cant have it! do a search above here on break in or something, oh my God thats obscene. Ya know it wont ever break in right if ya dont vary speeds/rpm and keep increasing. You'll develop early blow-by or something. You can actually punch it and keep the R's below 5000 and have some fun. Now you go spin those tires young man before you go you bed, or no modifications for you, ever!

Thanks everyone.
Reddawgy-I have to agree carnuba all the way, been using Mothers carnuba wax. Sorry about going easy on my L but I've been slowly increasing the rpm day by day. Working on getting it to 5000 by 1500mi. Right now at 1100mi and just did a oil & filter change yesterday with some Mobile 1.
Just took your advice "sir" and spun my wheels coming home on the onramp, when some foolish soul, female, in a cheby cavalier thought she could take on my baby. Well she almost did when I was too busy spinning and going alittle side ways for a couple of seconds.
Well gotta go cause I can hear my tires saying "spin me more".

Surfsup,
It sounds like you got a GOOD truck. My 2000 model vibrated from the first crank-up to present date, now with 22587 miles. From 3000 - 3400 we have a normal, rear view mirror defocusing vibe, that is normal according to the SVT dealer. It has not gotten any worse, but is still present.

Good luck with your GOOD LOOKING '01

Wish my '01 would hurry up and get here!!

J.

I have used carnuba based waxes, mainly Meguiars and Mothers (and still do depending on the application) but many on the board swear by the shine and durability of Zaino www.zainobros.com which I have used also and like very much.

My favorite rant regarding the advantages of Zaino, which also speaks to the issue of carnuba, can be found at www.corral.net/Forums/Forum13/HTML/000017.html It made me look at carnuba based waxes differently and being in the hot sun of Las Vegas, something you may want to consider.

Great looking truck!
