bucket seat for 2001 L
I would love to do your cheaper version Sprio, I just don't have access to equipment (nor the skill) to "rebuild the frame" of the passenger seat like you did.
I too am looking for a bucket seat for the passenger side.

Guys,
I met a custom upholstery guy at the BloodDrag show in West Palm Beach last weekend. Got a chance to look at some of the cars/trucks he had done while I was there. Excellent!
I thought he'd be expensive but I was wrong. He said if you UPS the seat(remove the tracks) to him he'd do it in a day or so and UPS it back to you. Cost was $150-200.
Don't remember if we talked about the framework, but you'd have to ask him. I'm pretty sure that the $ included that work, but don't quote me.
E-mail me if you want his info.

Guys,
Tampa seems to have an idea. The guy here in DE is booked soild for the next 5 weeks doing a few hot-rods.
Tampa,
Price seems very good. But I would think that does not include the time on the metal framework. But it should not be that much more labor if they have done that kind of work before.
Daniel,
The whole project cost me only a few hundred bucks. You just spent 900 for headlights
I am glad to have influenced so many to this MOD, Looking forward to seeing more PICS in the future.
Back by popular demand...
I was originally going to add a center mount shifter, but have enjoyed all the extra space in our limited cab.
Besides, that big storage area below the radio, really holds your favorite 6-pack of beverage rather well. Bottles of course...

Spiro and Tampa both back, feels like old home week. For any newbies out there these guys are big time Lightning and along with BABOLT and JL keep these trucks ROCKING! Pay attention now.
Hey Spiro99SVT,
I'm so jealous, no envious, no I'm just pissed that your conversion turned out so well.
I'm seriously thinking about doing the same thing and I believe that I've read everything that you've done that was posted here.
Is there anyway that you can clue us in on the overall details as well as more pictures? If I remember correctly you didn't bolt the center console down, any reason? Would you have to drill through the floor panel?
I'm sure that you had to over come some unforeseen tricks and traps cutting down your passenger seat, if so can you please clue us in on that also? Now I’m reading about the metal work, is this significant?
Did you go to a general tuck and roll guy or are we talking about a car seat specialist?
Thanks.

All right, my last post of a long tiring day returning every single e-mail in my box at this time.
O.K. Let me see if I could answer some questions:
The center console was not botled in place because I was preparing for the cage. Besides, its wedged in there rather well, I have taken many hard sweeping turns at speeds well over 120 mph while leaning on her. So its in there good for now. But you will require the 2 brackets that bolt the console to the floor pan using existing holes on a few spots. I havent tried it yet, so I still dont know. I have the brackets, and plan to permanently mount the console this weekend if the weather is warm enough to be in the garage.
The metal frame work for the seat was done by Jim@JDM, it took only a few hours. I really wish I had taken PICS along the way, but we actually rushed it one day between tuning jobs to get it done for me in time for the seat guy.
The seat guy needed the seat frame to be finished before he could reconstruct the lower half. The upholstery job was rather simple. The shop was a local place that does a lot of HOTRODS. I was lucky to have him do it for me that quickly
The new seat frame required a new support leg to mount the seat to the floor pan. The part is a ford part, just dont have the part #, never held onto it. Any more questions, just ask here and I will reply tomorrow.
I must have had at least 30 e-mails on this subject alone...
My typing has actually improved overnight LOL
Oh...be sure to leave the dissassembly to the seat guys, he did it in 2 minutes, where I know I would have ripped something had I tried to. Know your limits....

One more thing to add, the NEW seat support leg only need to have its front hole opened in the floor.
You guys better keep me posted on how it goes, I have typed more about this subject in 2 days than anything else.
Show us PICS please.
