Post Trans Am ?????

Im considering getting a 1999 or 2000 Trans Am with the WS-6 ram air and i was wondering what you guys/gals thought of them... Cause i figure lots of you have raced them... Do they compete at all with the stock L's??
((P.S. I would get an L if i had the money..trust me!!!!

Had a '99 ram-air 6speed. Fast car, handles nice, but my insurance was 3,500 year here in NJ, no accidents or tickets, male 40 years old. I then bought a '00 L and the insurance was 1,500 per year. BIG difference! Also, I'm 6'4" and it was a tight fit inside, unlike the L. I do miss the 6 speed though. Performance was excellent, definitely a bit quicker than my L. But all around I prefer the truck.

Kinda a bad site to be posting about buying a T/A, lol. Besides, the MSRP on a fully loaded T/A with the WS6 package is about $32,300 with an invoice price of about $29,500. A Lightning on the other hand is about $32,600 MSRP and $29,100 invoice. Not to mention, no offense to anyone, but the Camaro and T/A are just plain cheap looking on the inside. I know this from experience, I looked at those 2 and a Mustang, before I bought a beautiful Mustang. It may be slower, with very slight mods it won't be for long, but it looks 10 hundred times better, on the inside and out.

the Ls1s are nice for the bucks and compete very well with the Ls, especially from a rolling start. save your bucks and get the L. They are more unique. You will never regret it.

Another reason I got rid of the car: 1.When I wanted the A/C, it would only come out of the floor (heat) vents. 2. Cruise control didnt work. 3. Mismatched body panels. 4. There was a rattle coming from the rear hatch area, of course never found (just turned up the stereo). 5. Always had a lot of clunking coming from the drivetrain, whether it was the universal, rear or trans. Never did find that either. 6.It had a stuck open fuel injector at about 2ooo miles, where dealer fixed that and the cruise control. All the dials and buttons, felt plasticy, cheap, low budget. I think its a better car to let your friend buy, than to actually own yourself. The lightning is quality especially the interior.

How the hell did you get 520 posts and not even own a "L"? Not that it matters but you must know what we think about 'em.

JDm,

Touching on something SVTDAVE noted, I think you'll be very dissapointed in the build quality of the car. I love the LS1 engine myself but I'm gonna hold out for a Z06 corvette. IMHO, the Corvette is the only GM product worth buying.

Ok, you just answered your own question JDm,
They are both about the same price when new. However, a 99 L is $24,000, and a 99 T/A is only $19,000. Can we say resale value???!!!

Anyway, just a perspective from someone that buys cars all day long....hint hint....e-mail me...I'll find you a car...or a truck.
