Post My L VS. a 911 turbo

Ok so heres the story, I was driving down 94 in chicago last friday and I just got on the highway after a nice dinner at gibson's and I just filled up the truck. So I crusing along with my buddy and All the sudden this yellow porsche blows past me doing about 90 MPH. SO of course I dieing to get back in the game. Well I jump on it and the boost starts jumping and I'm gaining on this guy, mostly due to traffic on the highway but never the less I'm moving hard and fast. Well finally I get next to this guy and its a younger guy with a pimped out yellow porsche with yellow BBS rims and a big double wing, and the most annoying fart pipe I ever heard. So he see's me and this guy slows down a bit the let traffic go ahead for awhile. So finally we get a nice strecth of road to run them. the whole time my buddies Chitting in his pants about my catching up to him and now where about to run them. So we get down to 45 or so and let then we take off, well I'm sure you all know that the porsche had the upper hand on me and he did. I keep up damn good though up to about 130 mph. from 45 to 130 I only lost about one short car length. Anyway He slowed down and gave me the thumbs up and I gave him the wave and it was fun as hell. Now I don't know what he's got done to his car but even a stock 911turbo's got some ***** from hell. For the best part the L did damn good for about 25% of the cost, HAHAHA. I got to act like an R/T owner now. J/K. Awesome though.

Then I'm crusing again and these mucacho's in a brand new blue chevy 1500 pull up next to me wanting some. this truck had some daytons on it with the white walls and all. Oh my God it was hideous. Anyway I just took of and they didn't know what the hell happened.

All in all the Chi town season is starting very soon, this was an eventful weekend and I got allot more stories to tell. later

i think a 911 turbo has around 415 h.p. in around a 3000 lb package. more h.p, at least 1000 lbs lighter.

Depends on the year porsche:

1991 turbo: 315hp 332 tq
1993 turbo: 355hp 384 tq
1996 turbo: 400hp 400 tq
2001 turbo: 415hp 415 tq

The 2001 model (manual tranny) weighs in at 3395lb and the tiptronic weighs in at 3494lbs. Not sure about the weight of the older models...

Good run, though. To even be in sight of a turbo is very good for a 4600+lb truck!

I love my Lightning too, but your race really sounds like you came across a NA 911. For a PU the L is a lot of fun, but lets face it kids it's really not that fast... unless we're talking 0-30.

Here is some reality for you. I trucking across 635 w-e doing about 70mph at 2am and a little blue 85ish mustang pulls up next to me with 4 people in it. Driver points ahead gives me a thumbs up and I return and off to the races we go. The races goes something like this 5 secs he's about 100 feet ahead?????? 1 minute 1 mile, 2 minutes 2 miles???, 3 minutes who knows.

Don't tell me a mod turbo 911 gets only 1/2 cars ahead, all eat my words if you go by 38 top gun on another board!

Hey I'm just telling you how it went, he had a newer turbo 911, or maybe he just like's make everyone think its a turbo, but I keep up with him. Maybe he wasn't on it, but his exhaust was allot louder then mine and I got a full bassani kit on. I saw the car shift threw the gears too. Its not like we lined them up and ran, we just jumped on it. I don't know what you guys think but the L's move real fast when your crusing on the highway. jump on and your gone.

Igogether: Watch out for those old Mustangs! ESPECIALLY those in primer paint. A friend has a 85 Merc Capri (Stang clone) being built with a 427 that should fly. That car is a lightweight too. Manual everything. Can't wait for a ride in that. It seems like the early Fox bodies are getting to be like the older Stangs. More going back on the road than leaving it.
