Post no more 2001L for me

Removed my deposit on my black 2001. I have seen the light. The new Jaguar X-type which is being released in September. It may not do the quarter in 13.7 but its a friggin Jaguar that I can finally afford. The base is 31500 which includes awd and leather and manual. Sweet! If I find an extra 30k though I'll get a lightning... Anyone have 30k lying around they don't need???

Good luck. (you'll probably need it) You know why jaguar never made a TV set? They could never figure out how to make it leak oil.

I don't know but my step mom has a 99 XK8 and the car is awesome. never had a problem yet. and its a pretty damn quick car. We've had lots of jag's and never any problems. Now mercedes, we have lots of probs with them. bad german luck I guess. All you chicago guys probably saw my dad on the news with his s 500 and his XK8 about the lemon law case he had. Mercedes is trying to apeal it now. I'm sorry but a company like that should know how to treat a good customer and fix the damn car, and after 14 trys and no fix, NEW CAR.

Hey stick with the JAG, I like them. still a ford. almost anyway.

$31,500 is an awful lot for a Ford Contour. That's right, the new X type is based on the European Contour. Maybe you could get a used SVT Contour and a used Lightning (now that would be a pair for $30k.

To make up for the lack of performance, Ive ordered a set of SVT and Type-R badges which should be good for 50hp each. Yes, I know its based on the contour but I've always loved Jags but couldn't fathom the 60k sticker.

Gee, you had me excited there for a minute, until I realized you were not talking about the F-type. No way in hell I would swap my L. for either one of them, but the F-type would make a sporty daily driver. Just waiting to see what price point they will bring that puppy in at.

Hey noelvm.Jaguars haven't leaked oil for 3 or 4 years and now that Ford ownes a majority chunk of the company you can bet its a mechanically sound automobile. They already had one of the best interiors(maybe THE best) and their sheet metal is goergeous. No flaming, but along with the Ford engineers they have put more R&D into their drive trins in the past 2 years than any car company I know.(P.S. the 2nd Gen supercharger is almost identical to the S/C Jag) Congratulations Nastruck!

Thumbs down

Not to start a flaming, but the supercharger is not developed by Ford or Jaguar, but a bought piece from Eaton...

Yea I know Mondo, but I couldn't resist it. One time on one of those car shows the guy had a green 4 door jag in the lot and the announcer started making comments about how unreliable it had been and the owner said "not this one it runs great and doesn't leak oil". They opened up the hood and it had a chevy small block with a chevy tranny in it.

What about the S type? It's the same car as the Lincoln LS with about 6-10k added to the sticker.

Jaguars have a special place here in Southern California: The guys who can't afford to get a divorce but want some young flesh always buy Jaguars for their girlfriends. If you see one at a stop light and look at the driver they are inevitably 32 year old single mothers who are being "kept" by a 58 year old buck from Newport.

I don't think I've ever seen a guy drive a Jag?

I WOULDN'T TRADE MY L FOR 2 JAGS. I CAN OUT RUN IT, OUT CORNER IT, OUT BRAKE IT, AND THE RIDE IS JUST AS GOOD, PLUS I CAN CARRY STUFF, LOTS OF STUFF! I SUGGEST YOU RE-THINK.

Comparing a lightning and the new jag is ludicrous. They are polar opposites. I wan't the nice smooth ride, elegant lines, 4 doors, and beautiful interior that goes along with it. By the way land speed, thanks for your opinion, luckily though I'm buying the car for me not you.
