Wife's excited about my larger shaft!

I just installed the new larger aluminum drive shaft. It’s bigger than stock but lighter.

Why I changed????
When cruising at speeds from about 85 MPH on, there was a vibration through the power train. At first I though that the engine was out of balance, or maybe something not right with the trans. So, I never took it over 80 MPH while cruising. At WOT, there was no vibration. That is why I was always at WOT and never cruising. Changing the shaft has smooth things out. Today, I ran the MPH up to 95 and cruised without the vibration. It was worth the $$$ for the change. Even my wife noticed the difference.

hehe

I bet she has been waiting for a larger shaft for a long time. Sorry I just couldn't resist.

I don't know why SVT didn't put one on in the first place.

if i took all the vibrations out of the truck, my wife would just ask for more time on the motorcycle

Ohhhhh Drive shaft........

JagcLightning Mar 4, 2001 05:41 AM

Jim, I too have the new drive shaft and I like it. The 01 also has a larger haronic balancer to go along with the aluminum drive shaft. All to help with the excessive frequencies generated by the 3.73 gears. If you continue to feel the vibrations, you may want to switch to the larger harmonic balancer too. I was lucky and never felt any vibrations, I just changed my drive shaft to be on the safe side.

Jim, a prescription for viagra is a lot cheaper.

You were running the carbon shaft, were you not? I do not notice any vibration with mine. Maybe you had one of those shafts with a curve in it, a lot of people do.

Shafted in Ventura.

How difficult is the installation of the aluminum shaft? Direct bolt on? Can I do the job in the driveway in the middle of the winter? Thanks.

rockinRANDY Mar 5, 2001 04:14 PM

my shaft doesn't vibrate.. so she sits on the washer... or sometimes reaches into the drawer next to my bed.. I have lots of spare batteries too..

I finally figured out why my wife is so disappointed that I'm trading the '00 for an aluminum driveshaft equipped '01.
