Mounting a racing harness so it is safe, strong, and "race-legal" or even "street-legal" - something you would use instead of your stock seat-belts will be very difficult.

First, the shoulder belts cannot be at more than a 45 degree downward angle. So you would need to install a rollbar, or weld in a cross-brace (width of cab) behind the seats at maybe shoulder height.

Next, the seat would need to be changed, as a seat with an integrated head-rest may cause the shoulder belts to slip off around your shoulders.

However, mounting a racing harness so it just holds you in place during road-racing/autocrossing, and is used in-addition to the stock seat-belts could be done. I have seen people do this, and have not heard about any issues with it (using both belts) ?!
In this case, mount the lab belts to the stock lab belt mount points, and add eye-bolts to the back wall of the cab for the shoulder belts. I guess you could even mount the shoulder belts to the floor behind the seat.
In this case, the stock seat-belts will hold everything in place in an accident - not the harness.

But I dont know, I'm stickin' with the stock belts...

Took to a auto trim shop and told them what I needed and that I wanted it to look factory or very close. The cost is not going to be the same in my area so won't even say.Just that if its done rite it won't be cheap!!! We had to cut a slot in the metal plate they use for the seat back, so it is strong enough for anything we can think of as far as racing goes.

Holeshot....I installed a 5 point system in my L, as follows....Across the cab, below the rear window, is a double wall with carpet over it. I drilled through the carpet and both walls (through the back of the cab). This gives approx. a 45 degree angle. Useing the washers and belt conectors for a bolt in system and, I think, 3.5" bolts, I sandwiched the cab. Hint...Use packing tape to hold the flat washer then a long screwdriver to push it onto the bolt. Put tape on the back side of a boxed end wrench, put the nut inside, drop it down to the bolt and reach inside the cab and turn the bolt. It's a piece of cake. I used the stock lap belt mounting points. Add the 5 point hardware under the stock setup adding the large washers under the cab. This will take a friend. The stock bolts are long enough. I drilled a hole behind the front edge of the seat for the anti dive belt. I think it is pretty much worthless installed like that but is required for Land Speed Racing. If you use the stock seats you must CROSS the sholder belts behind the seat otherwise they can be pulled off of your sholders. Crossing them makes a huge difference. When racing I run my stock belts at the same time. If you get upside down at triple didget speeds you need all the help you can get.....Mike LIGHTNING PERFORMANCE
