Anyone got a 2001 L brochure handy ?
While thumbing through, I've noticed a wide disparity between how low the side pipes hang among different L's...
For example, the red one in the brochure has them nice and high and tucked inside the rocker cut out.
However, the black one in the "centerfold" is WAY low and looks "bent."
I checked seattlesnake's new pics, and as someone mentioned, his seem to hang a little low.
Is this to prevent discoloration of the rocker panel from the tuned rich exhaust or what ?

I think it's just the photo's angle, cause they look fine in person.
Even if pipes do hang differently, it's all hanger adjustable. I'm sure that any muffle shop could put the pipes at any angle they wanted to.
I'm not gonna worry about it as I plan on installing a full bassani by this summer anyway.

The Ford dealership here has a silver and a white 2001 in stock. On both of these, the tips seem to hang lower and point down more than mine.
On another note, if you look at the "DRIVING" page, the red L in the middle looks like it is about to blow the bead on the passenger front tire.

Yes there is wide desparity with how low they hang. I just visited my red '01 at the dealership and the tips are very low. The black one that they had was not.
I went through the exercise of trying to raise them on my '00 last year and believe me, they is very little hanger adjustment. You will end up with the muffler rubbing on the floor of the cab with the dreaded "3 Man Rattle" as it came to be known.

A little off the subject but for those with a 2001; look in your SVT book at the specs. I think they forgot to change some things from last year. Kinda funny because you first read all the exclusive SVT hype and then they don't even update the owners manual from the previous year.

Thanks for the info...in your opinion, is it something that I should raise a stink about at the dealer if it's too low ?
Not that I trust that they could make it right and avoid putting the mufflers too high, but...

I posted the entire 2001 brochure in an earlier thread. You can see a link to the brochure halfway down the page:

Bama:
I don't know how to move it effectively given there are no clamps to loosen. There may be room above the muffler. The problem is that there is a seam of some sort that protrudes from the floor right above the muffler that hits it with passengers on board. I can only assume that there is possibly some room given how low it all is.
Ultimately I'm installing a Magnaflow so that will clean it all up.

My tips hung low when I bought it. When I put on the Borla cat-back, we found that by loosening the clamps that mate to the cat pipes and pushing the Borla towards the front (overlapping the pipe connections more) was the only way to really adjust the exit pipe to the height that looked right in the ground effect opening as the hangers have no adjustment.
