I don't think I read the specs. but there is no intention of building this one I'm afraid. Purely a concept.

But how 'bout this Navigator? This is produced by CAC or CEC, can't remember which. Blown, 22" rims, etc. etc.

I think SVT should make the following

Lightning
Cobra
Ranger around 20k
focus
4wd exploder

I would love to see a expedition but we all know its truly too heavy to be a true sports truck. You cant make an elephant fart like a rabbit.

I think an exploror would be too much money and there is not a big market for what we want.on the other hand, they sell so many ,If they made some,Some wives might like the look and it might just be a hit!

Personally the best platform would be the focus,Lightning, mustang, ranger

A ranger with a engine like a nissan frontier would kick a$$ in a little ranger along with rangers great styling. Oops,I mean the old styling

How about building a Mustang that costs less than a Corvette but is faster! And build more than 300 of them!! Why can't Ford build a car that will run and Handle with a vette off the showroom floor? That a real person can walk in and buy for 30-40k.

I want the SVT Focus. I keep telling myself, "if they build it, I will buy it."

Never have I considered myself a "ricer" and hopefully I never will! But the idea of the SVT Focus really pushes my buttons. And to think, when those cars first came out I thought they were the most hideous POS Ford has ever built (over and above the old Fiesta and Festiva!), but somehow my mind has changed.

The only benefit I see to an SVT Focus is gas mileage. I hate to say it, but it's ugly!! I just think SVT should have a little more exclusivity to it. This just seems like a trend where before long there will be an SVT everything. Do you want to go to one of those SVT rallies in Dearborn and have to share the track with the SVT Windstar "Tornado", the SVT "Rice Mobile" Focus, the SVT "Tubular" Taurus station wagon and the SVT "Earthquake" E-350 Conversion van? I love SVT products and I hope Ford continues making SVT vehicles, but there has to be an exclusivity to them. Let's not just make anything. By the way (not to sound too rash) I don't think ricers deserve an special attention. I take that back...they deserve to get their doors blown off by us Lightning fanatics!!

The SVT Focus is $18,000-20,000, or so some publication said. Not $30K.
WHAT04 - Thanks for the pictures.
Does SVT have a limit on the number of vehicles it can produce? Because, off the top of my head, it seems like they only produce three vehicles at a time... hmm...

Hey Trace, I agree with you completely. I think they are great.....and that blue is awfully sweet. Take one, slap a blower on it, and really embarass an LS1. What could be worse than getting beat by a 3-door econo car. hehe.

The Focus is a great handling car stock. With SVT modifying it, it should be a road course terror. The car will get great gas mileage, and will bring a younger buyer into the SVT fold.

To those who don't like the idea, I have a simple solution for you..... don't buy one.

I love my Lightning. I know I will adore the new '01 Lightning we are getting. I also know that I will own an SVT Focus and love it too.

Hmmmm, now they need to come up with an SVT Escape. YeeeeHawwww!!!!! (hehe, see how I get flamed for this).

Cool

I gotta tell you that at first I did not like the Focus, but after driving one I actually grew to like it very much and appreciate it very much. I'm tall, 6'4" and it has plenty of head room, and the build quality is very good, even the interior os pretty good quality (which I can't claim for our trucks)
An SVT Focus would be great fun. I'd get it.
Also, wait till you see the new Motor Trend.
A Ford Racing Focus vs a Corvette Z06.
No joke. (This is not your kids Focus)

kobiashi - I love the truck for the same reason. I am 6-2, and I have to move the seat up just to sit comfortably. I found that incredible for a regular cab truck.

I was skeptical at first about SVT's involvement with the Focus. But, from a marketing stand point, the big three are killing themselves but not getting involved in the sub-compact scene. I myself own a Honda (great mileage and reliabiltiy being key), and appreciate the fact that performance and cosmetic parts are never ending. You guys can appreciate this. Also, by not going all out with the Focus, SVT is playing it real smart. One of the attraction of modifying a car is adding your own personal touch. Yes, a 225 horsepower Focus would be nice from the factory, but what fun is that to somebody who wants to personalize it his or her own way?? I think Ford and SVT have a small hit on their hands. Lets just see if the import crowd accepts it.

The published specs show its' gotta be a killer in Solo II. At a target weight of 2770 lbs and a quoted brake package of 12" rotors front and 11" rear, that's not much less braking capacity than we have, with 2000 lbs more vehicle to stop. Supposedly 90% of the (150 lbs) of torque will be available between 2-6k RPM. Remember that lighter weight requires less horsepower to accelerate at the same rate. Ponder the possibilities on that for a second. The word 'tossable' comes to mind--of course, that same word has been used to describe the G2 L's <grin>...

I think that SVT missed the boat with the focus. I've owned 3 SVT contours and they are great cars for what they are. Peppy, four door, with pretty decent performance, average gas mileage, pretty good looks, and nice handling.

Being a limited production four door based on the contour econobox body, it also had a nice sleeper value.

I really was hoping that SVT would pick up the Taurus as a new platform. The old SHO Taurus was a great car when it arrived on the scene. High revving V6 putting out just 5 hp less than the 5.0L Mustang, and a pretty decent handling package. Nice clean looks, four doors, etc.

The latest incarnation of the Taurus really isn't a bad looking car. I like the new squared rear much better than the last model. If they put a good manual transmission, some performance tires, maybe a 4.6 L engine from the mustang GT, some good brakes (Cobra maybe), five spoke SVT wheels, and true dual exhaust, with a mild appearance upgrade, this car would rock. Only downside would be the front wheel drive, but the SVT Contour was bearable.

Unfortunately, the new twins coming home has outgrown the SVT Contour and the third one moves out as soon as I get a buyer. Replacing it with an Audi S4 Avant, which will be even more a sleeper than the Contour ever was.
