Post How to value a lightning (reprinted)

I'll give my 2 cents worth here. I am a dealer of used SVT/ Limited production vehicles. I have access, for which I pay $50 a month, to the biggest Dealer only auction data in North America. These guys numbers are actual units sold and can be viewed that way when getting a value for a particular vehicle. Optional equiptment can't be added on, but generally dealers value this stuff so little. Miles/ Model/ and condition are the real factors.

In contrast, I get the real Dealer only KBB. The numbers in here do not match their online numbers and neither of these match their retail version of the blue book. I have to say, Kelly makes their numbers up. I have no idea where these numbers come from.

Edmunds is the best at getting real numbers. Just ad their options back at half the value they suggest and you'll be close to mine

a 99' lightning with 28K gets between 22.25 and 21.5. These numbers are what the dealers pay for these at the auctions, i.e. what they are truley worth to the lot. You can actually do a little better than this as the dealership does not have to transport/ aquire the vehicle. Usually they'll apy around 250-500 more depending on how good of a seller the vehicle is.

If anyof you want my costs on anything (dealer cost), let me know. Moreover, if you guys ever want to go get a unit at an auction at my prices, let me know as well. I do this for fun, so...
