Post Where exactly is the CD changer on the 01 ?

I learned that it's near or behind the driver's seat.

Is it a standing up, toploaded magazine behind the driver's seat ?

Any pics?

Thanks...

The CD cartridge on the '99's used to jam if a homemade CD with a sticker paper type label was used. You could take a flashlight and a small pocketknife or jeweler type screwdriver and open the access door to the cartridge and shine flashlight down there and see which one was partially in/out of the changer. Use the knife/driver and gently work the CD out of the head and back into the cartrige holder. Eject cartridge holder, remove CD and sling it as far as you can, return cartridge back to head unit. Close access door. Go whup up on a GM or Chrysler product.

Call me parnoid, but why are we telling a total stranger where our CD changers are located? I wonder what a theif would do if he were planning on breaking into a Lightning and wanted to know exactly where the CD changer was at. Maybe just ask us!! Why wouldn't an L owner know where it was located? Why would someone who doesn't own an L need to know? Sometimes I think we are a little too trusting. Just don't think it was too smart to post pictures of where our CD changer is to someone with 12 whole posts!!

Yeah, you're right. Got me. I was planning to drive down to seattle, or perhaps texas, to steal a stock Ford CD changer...hahaha....

You people crack me up.

Next question...the supercharger's in the engine area right? Can someone confirm that for me ?

For the record, no, I don't own an L, but am in the process of looking for one. Also, I want to know because my good friend has offered to build me a sub box and needs to know what kind of room he has to work with.

P.S. Doug, thanks for the righted pic, and great site...I plan to visit often once I take delivery.

I apologize for offending you bamajdmpa, but my reasons to be cautious still stand. If you think that I was implying that you would drive to another state to steal from a Lightning as opposed to some other Lightning that may be located right next to you, then you are obviously not even smart enough to be a thief.
I hope that you are who you say you are and end up purchasing a Lightning. But you must admit that my reasons to be suspecious are valid.

That's ok, Jag, you're right, it would be kind of stupid to say I'd drive to another state. See? I'm not that smart after all.

Just remember, you had 16 posts once, and never knew much about Lightnings either.

By way of introduction, I own a 99 Cobra and have gotten incredibly bored with it. I was one of the first people to receive the "fix" because I promised SVT I'd dyno the same day I got the fix. (Gained 8 rwhp). I have been through hell and back on this car, and ironically, I want to sell it just when it has started to drive like a top.

I have 33k miles on it, and the idea of driving this car without a warranty turns my stomach. Too many engine failures, too many suspension problems. Maybe I'll consider getting one again in '03, but who knows...I made the mistake of buying the first year of a new model in '99, would i want to do it again in 01? Dunno.

Anyway, that's my story...your CD changers are safe, your superchargers are safe...but, actually, I'm something worse than the thief you feared above...I'm a trial attorney.

Hey Don -

I think I'm gonna earn a reputation here..."Lock up yer daughters, and lock yer doors, bama's in town..." haha...

I was supposed to go to Fall River Ford today to talk with a manager about a silver L he has coming in, but the Cobra's covered in prep for this storm. I want to go there in that so he can give me an idea on a trade.

What I'm hoping to do is try to get Rizzo or Tasca down near $30k. Tasca already told me $1500 over invoice, which is about $30,500. Dunno, for me, every penny over $30k psychologically hurts. I wish I could wait until August and then pick one up at invoice, but I really want this for the summer.

Also, if I can get at/near 20k for my Cobra, I'll be happy. My credit union rate is an absurdly low 6.95% now, so not a bad time to take another note.

I'll give Framingam Ford a call if these three dealers don't work out. My bro lives in Wellesley Hills, so I know the area well...thanks for the email, too!
