best car chase?
The most awesome car chase scene without a doubt.....
RONIN
The chase against the girl driving the BMW...
Especially when you realize what the streets are lke in Paris, and how hard it is to film there.

alphadogy;
I caught The Dead Pool this afternoon on TV. I thought the wheelstands on the R/C Corvette was a nice touch. They must have filmed that whole scene as a spoof of Bullit. What a riot!

I know it was a rice-burner, but I liked
Who-am-I. It was a little known Jackie Chan movie. A little more humorous than knuckle biting, but still some awesome stunts. My favorite still has to be the original Gone in 60 Seconds. That Mach takes a beating! If you notice the camera is constantly rolling.

there is only one chase scene that all others will be judged by:

1. Freebie and the Bean (James Cann & Allen Arkin) where their car ends up in the old couples' bedroom.
2. Terminator I chasing Sarah and John Conner; the music is unbeatable.
3. Terminitor II Arnold Schwarzennegger drives a SWAT team's van against the T-1000 and his helicopter.
4. The movie with John Wayne where he drives the Jag and chaces some hoodlums on the beach and they roll their car a few times.
5. Ronin....WOW

Nope. Best one ever is in Deadline Autotheft from 1983. It starts out with a 15 minute chase, there a bunch of chases in various exotic cars, then the last 40 minutes is one long chase in a Mach 1 Mustang. It's not one of those "driving across the country to see his girl" kind of things, it's just car chases for the sake of car chases. I think there was a story in there, but it wasn't the point. Kind of like porno for gearheads.

Ronin is by far the best. Beats bullitt sad to say. The end scene of Bad Boys is pretty neat too, with the Porsche turbo 3.6 and the Cobra replica.
And of course Days of Thunder. I mean think aobut it, they're chasing each other the whole movie...

Well this is a little strange way to rate a car chase movie, but about 4 years ago I purchased a really, really, really expensive home theater system.
The first movie I every watched on the system was the AC-3 version of the ROCK on LD.
I had pictures falling off the walls when the Ferrari was chasing the Hum-vee and I just kept repeating the chapter over and over again.
I guess the first time is always the best!
Now that I think about it I stating that the best car chase movie involves one of the fastest cars vs. one of the slowest?

You guys ought to check out the movie "To Live and Die in L.A." great flick from the eighties, totally kick *** car chase. I think Willem Dafoe and William Peterson (CSI) are in it.
