Post Newbie question on L allocation.

Hi all, newbie hoping to owning an L this year, I have a couple of questions on avaliablity...

1. Are 2001 Ls now begining to hit the showrooms??? Seems people are finally getting their orders and dealers also finally getting their stock.

2. My wet dream would be to go below MSRP.....in Los Angeles...Southern California (I'm on a budget and hoping to shave off $1.5K). I'm willing to wait until May-ish, is this realistic???

3. Seems Ford is anxious to move cars, with low APRs and incentives, I keep hearing them applying to F-series but never the Lightnings, do these deals cover the Ls also.

Thanks.

From what I've heard, you have your work cut out for you to find an 00 Lightning, let alone a 01, for even anywhere near MSRP. Under MSRP? I honestly doubt it. Make a road trip anywhere East and you may achieve your wet dream

I'm sorry to say that you will never see Ford give any kind of incentives or rebates on L's. Rebates and incentives are used to help slow moving vehicles. Lightning are NOT SLOW MOVING in either sales or on the road.

Cool

Jim,

In February of 2000, Ford sent me a "Customer Appreciation" certificate valued at $500 toward the purchase of ANY Ford product that I took delivery on before March 31, 2000. I called the 800 number on the certificate and inquired about applying it toward the L and they said ANY Ford.

I purchased the L on March the 8th and the dealer accepted the $500 certificate.

Of all the years I have purchased new Lincolns and Fords, this was the first and only year I received the "Customer Appreciation" certificate. Maybe they are a rariety.

L7 - give Jeff Mitchell at Marshall Ford West in Cleveland Ohio a call 800-367-3898 - I ordered my 01 from him and got a very good deal - for $225 they shipped it directly to a dealer in SoCal where I picked it up --

Muchas Gracias for all the imput I'll plan my budget around MSRP.

Jim44- I heard shipping a new car into Cali isn't all that kosher, don't you have to pay some extra out-of-state/smog/voodoo fee with the DMV?? I assume the Ls are 50-state vehicles? If you don't mind, in your situation did you do it for the deal or a supply thing?

I bought my L new last May in the L.A. area and they wouldn't budge off of MSRP. I think California has a huge demand for L's (since I see them almost all the time...) and they will sell at MSRP or better.

As someone else suggested, probably would get a better deal ordering from an out of state dealer...

Good Luck!

You might want to talk to a dealer to see where they are in their allocations. I ordered mine in early Feb. because the allocation list was filling up out here. Remember, each dealer can only order so many, and when they are gone they are gone.
