Cool Marauder

I am going to do both. That Marauder is going to be my wife's next car

Good for you! I, for one, like the car and the concept behind it. I liked the old Impala SS cars when they were being produced.
For its class, the Marauder will have an outstanding drivetrain and I bet the suspension is more than adequate.

If my wife hadn't insisted on an Expedition, I would've held out and waited for the Marauder. That was the plan anyway. Oh well.

I came within a inch of buying a 96 Impala SS. I loved the look and it had good performance and handling (for a big car)but they were 26k at the time and selling at sticker. I am glad Ford has FINALLY come out with a factory performance version of the panther platform. It is long overdue.

Cool

I will probably be banned forever from this forum, but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As galaxy says, our next car to replace Pat's '98 Continental will be a Marauder even if it is not supercharged.

On my part, having now driven Moby for almost two years and enjoyed her more than a little, I will replace her with my newest "toy", my Mom's 48K miles 92 Town Car.

I got the car as an inheritance thingie, and the current value is about $7k which I did not have to pay. For another $5K, I can get about 300 horsepower out of the 4.6 and a built trannie and so on and can expect a 15 second, maybe mid 14 second 1/4 mile time.

While the TC cannot haul 4x8 sheets of plywood, I don't do that anyway. I do haul lots of "apple crate" size boxes of models and RC Cars and Planes and I have found that by using the humongous trunk and the back seat area of the TC, I can haul just as much as I can in the truck in cube if not weight.

Mind you all again, and I posted a similar note on the thread about the 2003 Lightning, it is a tremendous machine but with just too many niggling problems for me to continue to support SVT's efforts with my money.

Sorry, got knocked off AOL for a moment.

I do not and will never regret buying a Lightning. Just thought it might have been a better machine for me than it is/was. It is still the fastest production truck ever made, I will treasure the experience of blowing away a lot of hot dog American and very expensive European machines.

I guess I am just getting old/older, but I really do not appreciate the dealing with the quality problems and the lack of dealer/factory response for what i considered a "flagship" vehicle.

Perhaps I just need to do a massive burnout tomorrow morning (have not done so for 9 months or so and the TC won't do that) and maybe I will feel better.
Bill

I'm going to wait for the 5.4 version. The doggy cobra 4.6 was enough 4.6s for me. If they couldn't make that run the merc will be even worse because it weights more than the mustang.
