I know I've seen a post about this before but not sure who I'm borrowing this quote from.

"It's not a gas gauge, it's a timer"

I'm getting between 15-16mpg if I normally behave myself with a few full throttle runs in here and there. I'm quite pleased, and I think the elec fans helped a little in the mileage. The only thing that hurts is the premium gas and the smallish tank making you feel like you can watch the sucker go down!

hi guys i have a question about mpg, im from england so running a lightning is gonna be pretty pricey but worth it, however i have been told that the later lightnings 03, 04 have a swtichable supercharger so you dont have to have it one all the time thus improving mpg, is this true or just a load of horse s**t.

oh and fuel over here is 93.9p per litre so about £4 a gallon.

13 to 14 mpg average, 20 mile fast trip to work in the AM, 20 mile slow trip home in PM. DUH, it really is more fun to go to work!

Full load of horse s**t, and more!!

I went to Colorado last week, avg 70-75 miles per hour on a 400 mile trip, got 16 mpg, the best I could do. I believe if I cruise at 60 mph, I could get 18. Maybe not, 60 mph--too slow

T1M,

There's no switch for the supercharger to turn it on or off. If you are light on the throttle then it is just along for the ride. Now as you can probably tell by the posts and posters on this site NO ONE is light on the throttle. It's just to much fun to be into boost.

I keep telling myself I will be light on the throttle, but I know I won't be able to resist that supercharger whine and the rush of speed.

To the brit:

The supercharger has a bypass valve which is open whilst cruising, and the truck make no boost at those times, hence the fuel pressure is at a normal level and not using much more gas than a non supercharged 5.4.

Is it just me or does the fuel gauge seem to go down alot quicker from 1/2 tank and down than from full to 1/2? I do some spirited driving every now and then but I'm frugal with the loud pedal most of the time. If I drive it moderately the gas seems to last.
