looking closely at the picture i notice all of the traffic around you and the SS, including a vehicles shadow directly behind the SS.. looks to me like you were doing more like the speed limit and not really racing at all.. cool pic though...

My boss used to have a 2004 SS and it was dead even in a drag race with my 1998 ext. cab F150 with a 4.6, lol. So therefore, I think racing it with the Lightning would be a waste of time and gas.

A friend of mine has a modded one over in England.
It has a Radix blower pushing 9lbs, big intercooler, long tubes, converter etc etc.

Best time so far....... 13.7 @ 98

My HD beats it quite easily

You guys might get surprised by an SS one day!

I used to own an 05 SS and I can tell you it would've spanked my 04 Lightning as it stands (6lb pulley, intake, dyno-tuned, blah, blah).

Here is the reason though :

I think by 40mph, my Lightning would pass it as the SS is heavy, but having a blower pushing that 6.0L engine with AWD made for a monster catapult launch that would take a very good L driver to match.

Read my post above. Is the one you sold to Big Eamonn and he exported it?

If so, it runs a 13.7 over here. My HD runs a 13.3 with a 6 lower.

If that SS was faster than your modded L, there's something wrong with it.

Why did you sell the SS if you had the much money invested in it?

WOW. I always figured with a blower on them... they'd be lower 13's...

Cool.

Small world...yup...that is Eamonn's truck.

No, the SS isn't faster than the L in a quarter mile. That isn't what I said...I said in the first 40mph (about 2-3 seconds) the SS felt faster to me. Alot of that is because of the AWD/tranny setup/stall converter of my old SS where you could just slam the gas on, and my L is having to have the boost feathered in to get traction. A set of DR's on the L would make it a different story. To be honest, I'm surprised he only ran a 13.7! Time for some nitrous!
