Unhappy Stone Chips.

It seems like every time I get home I have one or two more stone chps on the front end usually around the fog light area.Do I have bad paint or are other people having this problem?

Same problem here. Especially now with all the rains. Roads are kind of a mess out here in California. We're not used to too much rain so when we do get a bunch our roads start getting LOTS of pot holes. Lots of pot holes and lots of cars means lots of flying gravel. I generally try to stay a good distance from the car in front to try and minimize the problem.

My wife drives a '96 Dodge Ram Sport with a front end just about as low as ours. It's pitted with hundreds of gravel chips. I imagine my L will look the same in five years. At that point I'll just have it re-painted.

Get a clear bra for the L. Works great for me It comes in 3 pieces. Hood, grille, and bumper. No new chips for me since I had it installed

I just looked at my front end. 14,000 miles No rock chips, not even one. I am not sure why I have no rock chips?
I do tend to keep alot more following distance between myself and whatever vehicle is in front of me. I drive a tractor trailer 18 wheeler thingy for a living, So I am in the habbit of giving myself plenty of following distance. Perhaps also the roads are better here in Oregon ?

The roads can't be better in Portland, OR; not with all the ruts, potholes, etc. on our freeways.

My Lightning has the usual number of chips, dings on the front surfaces. Currently, I dab a tiny bit of touch-up into the worst ones, but I'm angling for an eventual repaint after a few years or so.

Personally, I'd rather be driving my truck and getting the 'normal' wear & tear, than leaving it in a garage most of the time. But that's probably more because of the fact that I can't afford a different daily driver.

why don't you folks go to http://www.thefordsource.com/store/m...otorsports.htm

there is a pic of it in the middle of the page. follow the links to get more info. I think the price is $119. Thats far cheaper than new paintjobs.

I have about a 5 inch spot in the front bumper where there is that little indention on the corner where some ******** must have hit me in a parking lot whilst I was X-Mas shopping back in early Dec. No paint left, its about 5 inches long and about a 1/3 of an inch wide. Any ideas other than to re-paint the whole bumper?
