no thanks. after CALI, FL is one of the places i would NEVER LIVE.


i have been to hawaii, and that was as close to paradise i have seen.

Ray, if you think you had it bad; a few years back we went to Disney instead of Colorado (as we do evey year). What a bunch of crap. I don't know why soo many people like that crap. And to top it all off we found out after we got there that it was gay week. They would kiss and hold hands in the lines. Try explaining that to your 5 and 11 year olds.

Sandy you are right. I wish every yankee would go back up north so we could have the south back to ourselves!

You can't really judge what kind of place Florida is by looking at the tourist trap places that you mentioned. They know you came there to spend money and that's all they care about. Once you get away from those areas it is totally different. As for the weather, it really doesn't suck to be sitting out on your boat in 80 degree temps while icy northern roads cause 100+ cars to pile up on the highway.

You know I spent the last 25 years in Fla.-20 in the Fla. keys after moving from Michigan in 1976.
You want to talk paradise: The Fla. keys offered Pristene Water, Sandy beaches-Fishing off your back dock-Lobster all year long (Opps. not true) and some of the best Tournament Fishng ANT WHERE.
I watched a Tourists, increasing in numbers, visit (left all there garbage) MOVED here-Over built areas, polluted waters with septic tanks, traffic congestion from SNOW BIRDS!!
(hell, US1 was bumper to bumper from Nov.-May)
I saw, first hand how Tourists,Canadians, Snow birds and retiree's can ruin a 125 mile X 5 mile set of islands.

I moved to up state FLA. 4 years a go to cattle country. I now have a farm
out in the country 5 miles from a grocery store and 1/4 mile from my nearest neigbor. Am I happy? Yes and No.
Yes, because I found a place I liked and can still race my Lightning ALL YEAR LONG.
NO, because I still regret the waste the population did to the keys in the name of tourism.
The one thing I am glad for and anyone else living in Fla. can a test to is:
Atleast the Tourists, Retirees and everyone else stay on the COASTS and leave us folks inland to our lakes!!!
Stay up North,out West,Up East any where but here.

Sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience but since I didn't find anything you said true (here in Tampa anyway) except for the crappy drivers so I have to wonder where you were? It says Sanford? I don't know where that is off the top of my head but I'll put it on my list of places not to visit. Anyway, I've been to a lot of places while I was in the Marines and there is no place I'd rather be then Florida. Here's my top 10 list..

10. What's snow look like?

9. What's state income tax? (Our sales tax is 6.75%)

8. The ratio of young women here to men is like 60% thanks to USF. Young college hottie's that love to run around in skimpy attire because of the heat I might add.

7. I can mountian bike, Dirt bike (motorcycle), Jetski, swim, hike, canoe, party at Ybor (like Burbon Street), rollerblade, lay on the beach, etc. Within 20 minutes from here just about year round.

6. Busch Garden's and Adventure island are about 5 miles from me and I could drive to Orlando in less then an hour.

5. The strip clubs here are among the best in the country.

4. I'm only a few miles away from Raymond James Stadium so I can watch the Bucs, Monster trucks, supercross, etc. We have the Devil Ray's baseball across the bridge in St. Pete, and Tampa bay Lightning Hockey just across town.

3. As for auto dealers, I got my 2001 L for $2000 over invoice and my 1999 F250 about $4000 off sticker.

2. Property value is super cheap compared to other big cities.

And the number 1 reason to live in Florida.....


I can drive my Lightning year round!!!

Am I bragging?, well yes I am. Am I saying other places suck?, no but I personally couldn't be happier.
