Question Has Ford changed the 2001 prices Lately?

My 01L is due in any day and my salesman called me to tell me that their invoice price has gone up $700 since I ordered it in October.
Has anyone else experianced this or is my dealer blowing smoke up my patootie?

Undy,
I believe he is blowing smoke. Maybe sombody who has already recieved thier 01 can scan the window sticker. That will give you the ultimate answer. They probly have another buyer at a higher price so if you back out they have a buyer for it.

I'm buying mine through SALOC which is a buying service through my cedit union. The original price in October I got from the dealer was $28992,50.. delivered. They now say it'll be $29678.00. The window sticker won't tell me anything due to me buying below MSRP already. I was just wondering if Ford themselves have raised the base rate.

Yes the Ford price went up. I think I read about it at Blue Oval News quite awhile back. I recall it saying that it would not affect you if you were ordered before a certain date, or if it was a fleet priced/ordered vehicle, before a certain date. I'll try to find it again.

Ford's prices always go up the first of January for the standard production units BUT NOT 700. It was around 150-200

BUT BUT BUT if you had actually placed an order and your name is on that order (and it should be if the order was input correctly) you price is PRICE PROTECTED. The invoice will come with the price increase BUT the dealership gets the difference back from Ford. That difference becomes profit for the store if you pay a higher price than the price your were originally quoted.

But once again. On special limited units when the price is not known by the dealership and Ford has an estimated price, then the price can raise. A good case in point is the new T-Bird. Ford has an estimated price of approx. $39,800 for a loaded Bird, there aren't any order guides with prices, so a dealersip doesn't really know for sure. BUT, Ford is generally pretty close to what it originally thought. As with the T-Bird, if the price does not come in about $39,800, it will be really close.

Originally, on the 2001 L's, I had heard that the 2001 price was going to be around $31,900 and came in at 32,400, a $500 difference.

Jim,

Thanks for the info. I called the dealer back and they straightened me out, I think. The car was originally ordered for their stock. When I came in instead of ordering a new one they just put my name on the existing order. Since it wasn't special ordered for me originally they told me that it was subject to price increase...

undy, know mater how you look at it the total price went up about 1300 and then ad on any optional equipment you might of got we get the z-plan (same as a-plan) payed 26100 for our 2000 and just payed 27600 for the 2001 the 2001 had a tonneau cover but the 2000 didn't the cover is about 125-130 on z-plan so if you take 27600-125=27475-26100 that = what the truck went up fot the 2001s(1375) and if you are talking % then the truck went up a little over 5% total! we had to trade because they gave us with in 400 dollars trade in of what we paid for the 2000(we had it for nine mouths put over 5000 miles so you can see that for 400 dollars and 5% price incress we had to buy the better truck!!!!! hope this helps

They are correct. If the dealership had ordered a unit for stock and later on you stopped by to purchase the inbound vehicle and they placed your name on that unit so that when it arrived, everyone at the store would know it's sold than that unit was not protected. A unit ordered for stock IS NOT price protected.
