Tire warranty replacement question
I just noticed one of my F1's has what appears to be a serious cut in the tire and it looks like not from something I ran over, but rather a defect. I pulled the manual and it says during first 12 months or 25% tire wear, it will be replaced free of charge.
Question I have is the adjustment policy says take it to any Goodyear tire dealer. I guess I always thought for any warranty work you have to take it to the auto dealer. I would like to take it to Discount, I guess that would qualify correct? Never had to warranty a tire from a new vehicle before, so I'm totally ignorant to this one.

Peter B,
IS the cut in the sidewall or in the tread? I barely clipped a curb about 3 months ago and punctured the sidewall. I talked with alot of people and they said it would be a cold day in hell before Goodyear paid for the tire even though I thought it was a defect the way the puncture occured. Hopefully you will have better luck.

SVT-snake,
the cut is in the tread (the outer most tread). It looks as if the rubber just started separating. The separation is almost perpendicular to the rotation direction.

When you purchased your L and the dealership gave you the packet with the F150 manual and the SVT Supplement, also included was the tire warranty from the Goodyear.
Ford does not warrant the tire. The tire manufacturer does.

The sup is a little booklet with L specific info. It should be with your owners manual. If not, get the dealer to order you one.

Peter,
Take it to a Goodyear Dealer...they may have to call Goodyear to get them to warranty it,
Also, it is kind of like taking your truck in, i.e. different Goodyear Dealers will yield different results, they may have to go out of their way to get tire replaced/or special price on replacement. So if you can get a recommendation on a particular dealer it may help.

Went to a local discount dealer (and I've always had excellent service from them in the past). Guy comes out, looks at my tire and says, no that is a cut and it is not covered under warranty. Couldn't convince him that I feel it is warranty. I will try another Discount Tire near my house tomorrow.
I can't stand dealing w/any kind of warranty issues--it seems like nobody in corporate America wants to stand behind their product anymore.
