Fuel Pumps dead

My trucks pretty much stock and my fuel pumps just went out. Im eventually going to install my 6lb pulley, my question is can I go ahead and install walbro 255's now? If I do will have to get a retune, or bypass the resistor?

You can install the 255's without needing a retune or bypassing the resistor. But if both your fuel pumps are dead it's probably something else that went out. Like the relay.

i swapped to 255 and you don't need to change anything. it pumps more but the regulator keeps it in check.
like SWthomas said, probably something else. How do you know it is the pumps? did you check the fuse or relay?

Ive had a hard start issue for about a month (off and on) the other day I decided to go swimming in a remote area...Went to leave to go up a gravel hill and it started to cut out like it wanted to die, I finally get to the top of the mountain and started to head back down to town it started cutting out low rpm to high so I parked it. I go out to start it yesterday and it didnt sound like it was priming with the key on, I put my ear up to the gas door area and finally heard a light groan. Still wont start, just cranks...Im checking the regulator, resistor, and fuse today. But Im pretty sure its the fuel pump

you have 2 pumps in the tank with a "y" connector b/w them, check the HI/LO relay, the resistor and the relay for each pump along with fuse. If a hose came off in the tank it will not prime and make a low pitch whine due to the fact its not building up pressure. Put a pressure test guage on the fuel rail and turn on the truck and see what you get for fuel pressure. If your good with a multimeter you can check the resistance of each pump while they are still in the tank, and even better is to check the amperage draw of each pump. If one is drawing very high amperage then it has froze up and needs to be replace, same thing with resistace- if the pump is froze it will be high, but if the pump failed electrically you will more than likely get no resistance.

Check fuel filter for what looks like mud.

I would change the fuel filter, replace the relays and inspect the resistor. After than, if the resistor looks good, drop the tank and inspect the pump assembly.

Fuel filter was changed 4500 miles ago, I'll change it anyway. I swapped relay's out no go...The trucks lowered so I need to find a jack to raise it up some to check the resistor. If the resistor's good, I need to get something to sit the bed on...truck's got 70k on it, so Im thinking a pump's gone.

You could just drop the tank. That may be easier than removing the bed for you.

Im in a rural area in West Virginia and lack majority of my stuff beside's hand tools, and I have 3/4 of a tank. So Im probably better off just removing the bed.

I finally pulled the bed, and when i was under the truck to disconnect the tail light harness I noticed I had a dent in the tank. Today I pulled the pumps out and the sending unit is bent...I was suppose to have 3/4 of a tank but from the looks of it I don't have much. Anyone have a stock tank they are willing to sell?
