Help and advice needed fast!

Ok, I picked up my truck after new engine install and got gauges installed finally (wideband air/fuel etc..). The only fuel management mod I have is a diablosport chip, which I believe is programmed for a 6lb pulley and exhaust+intake. I also have a mafia controller (what setting is it supposed to be at?) Also the engine is bored out to supposedly 5.8L. My mechanic (not the one who built the engine) said this causes my truck to lean off boost. Here is the problem, I just flew to Florida and need to drive back tomorrow, but my a/f gauge is reading its running lean when on idle and very lightly on the gas, like cruising on the higway. Right if I give it enough gas so a little boost comes on, the reading jumps back to 11.5-12 which is good I assume. On slight gas its reading 16-17. Will extended driving to NY damage a piston when its running lean off boost, or is this normal behaviour for the a/f to be 16/17 while cruising? I dont wanna blow the engine again.... I know I need a viable tuner device (predator or sct) so I can really tune it right but I have a hard time finding one on a Saturday. I will get one though. Thanks for all the help before hand!

I think you're main problem revolves around the MAFia. To use it, the tune MUST be corrected for the setting it's on. If your tune is NOT corrected for the MAFia, you can't use it yet. If your tune IS corrected for the MAFia, you need to contact the tuner and find out what setting it's corrected for.

And you can't "bore" a 5.4 to a 5.8.

The a/f actually reads btw 14.5 and 16 on the hwy. Also, I actually don't know what the chip is tuned for for sure, neither where it came from... I just want to know what ur a/f readings are, on the gas and cruising...Thanks

I just also found out my dad removed the Mafia, so the readings are without it.

Yeah, I'd check into that "bored out" 5.8 thing. Ask the previous owner about what machine work was actually done (receipts in order?)

actually i think you should be seeing around 14.6 at part throttle on the highway. When you give it gas the computer should make the corrections to keep you around 14.6. When you bring the RPM's up quickly your A/F should drop below 12. If you are seeing 14 at highway speeds cruising I'm not sure you have a problem.....

If you have a problem, then so do I. Mine stays at 14 until I roll into the throttle. It's been that way, problem free, for a long time and my plugs are always perfect.

I am no expert, SAL should be able to tell you what your A/F will be on the street. I was just giving you my experience....If he tells you to stick a banna in the tail pipe and that will fix it.......Well, a banna it is
He is preety darn good at what he does.

Thanks... mine is reading btw 14.6 and 15.8 while cruising, but that should still not be too lean. It does jump to less than 12 when you give it plenty of gas. I hope PSP is still in Long Island... gonna go for a visit.
