Thumbs up GP on the new MSD ingnition for GEN.2 L's

Hey everybody,
Just letting you know that if I get the go ahead from Roger to do a group purchase we will have a new toy to put on our Lightnings!
MSD has released the long over do ignition for our Lightnings just in time for race season. It is the MSD Stacker 8 channel DIS distributerless ignition. It is specifically made for vehicals with the 8 seperate coils like our Lightnings have. No cutting of wires, It works with the stock ignition but adds a high capacitive discharge spark. It is better at low rpm's and much better at high rpms. It has MSD multiple spark discharge for 20 degrees duration for a complete fuel burn. Better spark better combustion= more hp and performance. We should see the same results as the Mustangs and others which means a half a tenth to a full tenth in the qt. I can't post any prices on the group purchase or all specifics until I have clearance from Roger and F-150 online. I don't get anything out of it but a good price on a great product. Any help getting this GP approved by Roger or F-150 online would be great. I have this same post in the GP forum.
thanks,

Hey guys,
I haven't heard from F-150 online yet to see if they are going to allow this GP yet but will update as soon as I do. This is gonna be the ultimate ignition. Hope this will be allowed cause it is something that we have all been waiting for since we got these trucks.

Unhappy

Maybe it's just my luck with MSD, but I really don't have any faith in their quality control anymore... '93 Mustang GT, installed a new MSD Digital 6 along with the new motor. The Digital 6 catches on fire after idling for exact 2 minutes. It's definitely not installation related because the replacement unit plugs right it and ran fine... for 1.5 month. Then the car started missing @ high RPM. Exchanged the second Digital 6 for a Crane Hi-6 and no problem ever since.

Thinking the Digital 6 was an isolated incident, I ordered a Pro-Billet distributor for the same car. Under WOT, timing went all over the place, motors pings and bogs. Went back to OEM distributor and the car runs perfect. FWIW, I hope the GP works out for you guys and the MSD problem is just my bad lucks. But for now, I think I'll stick with the stock ignition...

Cool

Yea, life is just like that sometimes. I put two Crane's on my SS and both were bad, switched to a MSD and have 4 years on it.
It's what we live with.

Hey,
These new units work with the factory ignition. It fires the coils at the same time as the factory but creates a better spark and has multiple sparks throughout 20 degrees duration. It does not advance or retard timing so there will be no adverse affects like pinging or bogging. Because I'm not getting any money out of this and don't work for any vendor, I may go ahead and post some prices and contact info tonight or Tuesday so that we can get these before race season. If we can get 25 all at once we can get them even cheaper than the GP price I have allready. I have 12 interested now.

I'm interested in one too. I have both Crane HI-6 and MSD 6AL BTM ignitions on various cars. No problems with either one.

Ok here are the specs.
Stacker Ignition Controls

: Simple to install with no cutting or diconnecting wires.
: Powerful capacitive discharge sparks improve combustion for increased performance.
: Diagnostic LED confirms operation at a glance.
: Models for most any application from distributors,to coil packs and individual coils per cylinder.

The MSD Stacker Ignition connects to your vehical's wiring without disconnecting anything! Actually, the factoy ignition remains in place and the Stacker delivers a powerful CD spark to improve the initial ionization of the plug gap to improve combustion in the cylinder. The two spark profiles work together to give you a great boost in ignition power in an economical ignition control. The majority of stock ignition systems are inductive designs. This style is inexpensive to produce and is adequate for OEM vehicals. Inductive systems generally have fair spark intenity, but fall short when it comes to high rpm operation and high voltage for performance engines. The MSD Stacker Ignition produces a high powered CD spark on top of the factory inductive spark so essentially, you recieve the benefits of both spark profiles! The Stacker Ignitions simply "piggyback" your factory ignition wiring. This is an advantage in that the factory ECU continues to see the factory ingition signals so there should be no check engine lights or tachometer problems. There are three versions of the Stacker offered depending on the application. Each Stacker is supplied with everything you need for installation.
Specifications:
Operating Voltage:10-18V
Current requirements: 1A per 1000 rpm
RPM Range: 15000 Max
Spark Series Duration: 20 degrees
Energy Output Max: 120mJ 250V
Voltage Output Max: 250V

Stacker Ignition,Eight-Channel, Distributorless PN 7020
For engines with individual coils per cylinder. Up to eight cylinders.
It is so new that we can't get a killer price
I have a GP price of $355 and if we get 25 we can get a better price. Right now we have 15 so it should be within our reach. Contact me (wean07@aol.com) Thanks to Roger for allowing this

Speedracer29,
If the 2001 has the coil on plug ignition with the individual coils for each cylinder it will work.
