Cool raced a yellow modded M3, was a good race->

hey guys, took the truck out for a spin, literally, just driving around a few miles up in north scottsdale. I had bought a new CD & was just blaring it away, enjoying the nice
cool temp & overcast weather . At a red light I had stopped at, I see a yellow M3 with a "racing" sticker on his front windshield pull up behind me. It was lowered & had some pretty wide tires on it, along with a custom exhaust sticking out the back of it. We both turn onto the same street, I get over into the the middle lane & he stays in his & speeds up almost even with me. I was checking in my mirror to see what if he would floor it. As he gets closer to my door he floors it (going about 20mph now) so I follow suit. I pulled away from him up to about 80 (1 & 1/2 truck lengths) then we stayed even. I think we hit just over 100, I didn't have time to look down. Ahead was a red stop light, we both slow down & stop at it. It turns green, neither of us gunned it, we both took off normal, he started ahead of me about 1/2 ahead of me, screw it , I speed up to his door, then just laid into it, it shifts into 1st gear, tires go up in smoke, keeps on burnin rubber into 2nd gear & I feel the *** end start to slide sideways , I keep into it correct the steering to keep going straight & I see his car starting to gain on me . Damn it tires hook up , a second later they hook & we are off, again I start to pull just slightly, but not as much this time, damn his car is pretty fast & is staying pretty dead even , I slowly start to edge on him, there is a car ahead in my lane that is getting closer by the second, I check my rearview mirror, his front bumper is just at my rear bumper, if I keep it up I might be able to squeeze into his lane, I keep on it, damn not gaining any ground , I tap the brakes to slow down for the car in my lane, he goes flying by, I get into his lane, but race is over now. That was 2 fun races, his car was pretty damn fast, I know that it had some engine mods to it, there is no way an M3 would keep up like that (not talking about the new 2001 model, that would be a killer race though). I didn't get a chance to talk to him. But it was still a good kill

Excellent run, I bet he was very surprised, especially the second time.
He probably had a turbo.

Wouldn't need a turbo, a chip and exhaust would even things out with the old M3's. Now for the 2001's we had better have the chip and mods. Much faster. I have had 3 different M3's. The last one was a 1997 and with a Dinan chip and cat back I ran a 13.3 @ 111mph. Not bad for a 3500lb car 3liter in line 6, no turbo or blower. Talked to the local BMW dealer yesterday about the new M3's. All sold out until mid-2002. Bummer.

fordtec2001, dude can you be so uncool?!?! By that comment you are telling me that you have never street raced? Is this true, if so, well congrats to you. But I'll take a wild shot that you have street raced, that makes you a hypocrite. I wont even go further or stoop down so low as to call someone a dumbass. God-bless you!

Cool

Maybe it was one of the Euro 3.2s like mine, but perhaps brought in from Canada.Set up like mine they can pretty easily break traction shifting hard from 1st to 2nd. They have a base of 321hp and 258ft-lbs. stock and in the case of mine add chip, filter, exhaust, and shrick cam set. Pretty much soon as you do a chip and filter the horsepower starts to nudge 350.

Well that's my theory, cause I have my doubts anything but the most heavily modded U.S. spec M3 would give an L a hard time.

excatly, I have raced M3's before, & never has one been able to stay with me. I really wished I had been able to talk to him to see what mods he had done. Oh well, maybe there will be a next time.

Nice kill you dumb *** (joking). M3's are 5.4 0-60 stock, and that one probably had a Dinan chip, etc. I have tried to coax a couple into a race, but you probably have them all scared.
