Post MRBBQMAN/Wyldman from Bill

Sorry fella's, but our trip from left to right coast got rather buggered up and we passed by your respective locations at the wrong time to try to set up a meeting.

The vacation as such was great, but I ran into a lot of difficulty trying to straighten out my Dad's affairs in CA and that added a day to that part of the trip.
When we got to Payson AZ to visit Pat's folks, we had to take an extra day to take her Mom to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix for some testing stuff and all of a sudden we were two days out of whack.

Bottom line is that we passed through Houston/New Orleans in the dark of the night and did not think it was a good idea to bother either of you.

On the good side, the TC performed flawlessly save for the fact that the windows won't come back up at over 80 mph and I got stopped outside of San Antonio for slightly exceeding the speed limit. Got off with a warning (Thanks Trooper Gonzales),and the Love Boat got about 23 mpg at an average speed of about 80 something.

It surely is not like driving a Lightning, but I was quite satisfied overall with the exception of driving in the twistie bits between Phoenix and Payson AZ which is at about 5500 ft and has a lot of canyon carving type driving. We had two passengers, two weeks of luggage and about six apple boxes full of books I picked from my Dad in the trunk and back seat area. The air bag leveling thingie worked great to level the car, but was not happy adjusting to the sweeping curves going up and down the mountains. We made two trips up the mountain and two down and by the last down trip, I was adhering to the "55" recommended speed limit rather closely rather than my usual 20 mph over that I can do with the Lightning.

For further info on the TC, I will post in a day or so my impressions on www.lincolnsonline.com

Again, sorry I missed you, but there will be another time.
Bill

Cool

Bill,

I completely understand. It sounds as though you had your hands full for most of the trip. I would not have been put out if you had called, but I do understand and appreciate your consideration.

If you get back this way, let us know, there are several of the HALO members who would love to meet with you.

Glad you got home in one piece, and that the trip was marred only by a brief discussion with Trooper Gonzales.

Live long and prosper!

Bill,

Sounds like a great trip! BTW, where on the Sullivan Bros Lincoln site could I go to find the details of your TC sojourn? It's a very nice dealership website but I couldn't find the proper section.

Thanks,
Mike

Morning Mike:

Sorry, I gave the wrong www address which I have now corrected. Also, I have not posted that message yet, will do so this morning. When you get the main page, hit forums and then TC/Continental and it will be there as well as some other postings I made about mods and answers I got from members of that board.

Wink

Morning Bill, there will be another time. i make it over your way every so often. for a lightning owner to make a cross country trip without a ticket, is a major accomplishment, even if the truck was at home. glad it all went well.
