Post Trick Question- How Many Miles Per Tank ?

I have been told 325 miles on the 25 gallon tank. I know I will get some heat for this question ! I know I shouldn't have to ask.

I am not to woried about the gas millage of my new Lightning(if it ever gets here)

My 99 4x4 with a 4.6 only get 16 mpg on the highway, 14 in the winter. So the Lightning can't be much worse. With the unerpowered 4.6 it is allways downshifting on hills. I bet the Lightning won't do that which should help a bunch.

I will not be surprised if I get equal or better with the L we will see soon, the truck is being built next week.

I get 13-14 mpg. So simple math says that if you drain every drop from the tank you can go 325 miles, BUT you cant and dont want to drain the tank. So if you leave 3 or 4 gallons in to avoid Fuel pump issues you will go about 250-280 miles. Even then the low fuel light will be on for a while.

An L is measured by WOTs per tank not MPTs or MPGs !

I'm using 4.10's, get 14 MPH with mostly highway driving, 300 miles a tank.

If I'm pulling a trailer with a load, I get 12 MPH

I don't know how many times I've gotten nervous about burning the fuel pumps up and stopped for gas. Many times the trip odometer showed 252 miles. Driven easy, hard or in between.

So now, I drive really hard to get the most smiles per tank. Unfortunately, last week a village cop tore through the grass median on the four lane in an attempt to end my smiling.

I have been as high as 340 (summer, made a bet, and won), and also as low as 230 (winter). But my Lightning is the economy car compared to what I am driving now, 87 Suburban 350 4X4, a oil drillers dream of 7.7 MPG. Yeah thats rough.

About 13mpg around town...275-300 mpg per fillup, usually about 21-22 gals. On the highway, about 350 miles, 15-16 mpg. The longest I've gone is 398m/23.8 gals. That was steady 70 mph driving, and is the only time I've ever managed to keep my foot out of it for an entire tank. It's all about smiles per gallon.

Ok, y'all can figure this out. Left the dealer last Saturday(1 week ago) with 13.2 miles on my L and a full tank of gas. Today I have nearly 500 miles on her, and I have gone to the gas station 6 times(sometimes twice a day). Any guesses on what my MPG is?
