Question Irwindale drag strip?

Any of you Southern Calif. people know anything about the 1/8 mile drag strip in Irwindale? Supposedly they broke ground last August, but I can't find any up to date info on it, all the links I come across result in "page not found". Is it operating or not?

Their target date for opening the new 1/8 mile strip was sometime this month. I don't know if they are still on schedule, but you could probably find out on their web site. Just search Irwindale Raceway. I've been waiting too. I would like to drag test my 2000L since I have made some mods. LA County Raceway is 100 mi. away from me, and usually has a corrected altitude of about 4000'. Running up there will instantly slow you down .5 sec. on a good day.

Is it true Carlsbad and Pomona are closed for good? That would really suck. There's nothing else around here. I don't like 1/8 mile tracks. Time to get into road racing.

I've done a search, but if they have a web site its not operational. As far as I know Carlsbad is dead, and Pomona is barely operational - a few big time meets, but almost no street legal stuff any more. When I was at the L.A. auto show the sheriffs had a display with a funny car tricked up to look like a cop car, and I asked a deputy where people were supposed to race any more, and he just said "the streets". Its a pathetic situation, but it seems like godforsaken property in the desert is the only place they can put a strip now.
