br7ef spark plugs on a stock truck

i needed new spark plugs for my truck and a shop recommended the ngk br7ef for my truck, they said they put them on all the lightings that come in. my truck is completely stock though. arent those spark plugs made for trucks with high boost. what will happen if i put those on there?

I WOULD NOT put them in

NGK TR5's are equal to the stock Plugs
NGK TR6's are 1 step cooler and all you'll ever need (no matter how modded)
NGK BR7's are 2 steps cooler and SHOULD NOT be put on a stock L.
(the idle SUCKS, and you will have little misses at low rpm)

Although I've tried them, (along with many others), even on a heavily modded L they really aren't needed, and it's simply not worth the trade off of losing a good idle and gaining the low end miss'es. Hey mine runs TR6's and when I got it last winter the truck had just finished being built and then they tested on the 1320 A LOT, (key word a lot). After all those JDM runs, Mike Runs, Evan Smith runs (numerous low 10's, spraying it's way to the 9.74) they look as perfect as the day they went in when I changed them.

I replaced them with another set of TR6's and since then the truck has ran 3 more low 10's (2) 10.0's, 10.1, and my WOO HOO 9.9!! and they still run idle and perform perfect.........
NO REASON FOR BR7's on a stock truck, AND you'll hate them

so even running 20+ psi, tr6's is what you would run?

I was also told to run the br7's in my soon to be whipplecharged setup....
but I do not want that if it misses like crazy at idle... I want a decent DD...

i have a 4lb lower and run the br7's and the idle definitly misses. I am going to swap them out and give the TR6's a shot.

My TR6s held up well at boost levels of 22-23 lbs. No need for any colder a plug IMO.

For a stock truck I would gap them @ .40 . I run the TR-6s with A 2# upper and a 4# lower and up to a 100 shot and I have not had any problems. They are a tough plug! I gap mine @ .32 though! Jim

I changed to some BR7's and immediately noticed the rougher idle compared to the TR6's. I plan on changing back soon.

I asked this same question about a month ago, and got a list on when so much boost which plugs to run...

I am on my 3rd set of tr6's... all of them melted...

JDM, and Johnny Lightning Perf... have ALL told me the tr6's are not really one step colder and that it is a myth...

LFP has said the same thing as well... They ALL recommend the br7's or using denso it22's or IT20's.... AHHH

I am gonna run 15-17 psi... what plug should I use.....

I really hate this question, becasue nobody gives me a good answer on it... its all conjecture.... When I put on my whipple in a week or so... I NEED to know which plugs to put on because I really do not want to pull the S/C to put new plugs in...

I've run the BR7's for over 18 months now on my built engine with no probs. No rough idle no miss.

i think the miss is due to the fact that your tuner didn't tune your idle very well...

thats indicatio of only being tuned for WOT...

Sounds like a timing issue at idle

thats why they miss in a stock truck becasue its not tuned for those plugs..

I think I am going for the BR7's in mine when I throw my whipple on next week....

I have been running the TR6s as well, but I'm going to try some BP7EFS plugs. The tip is projected like a TR6. The BR7EF is not a projected tip which may be causing some of the idling and off-idle misfire issues.
