Question Anyone upgrade their rear brake lines?

I'm getting ready to install a Line Lock and I figured I'd install some upgraded rear brake lines while I was at it. Might as well since I have to bleed the brakes anyway. I already have stainless braided lines in the front and I was looking at the rear lines that Lightning Brake & Performance sells. According to their website the kit comes with the rear hard lines and stainless braided lines also. Is anyone using these specific lines? If so, how was the fitment and install?

Shoot a note to Tim Skelton,... I know he bought a set for his "L".
I don't recall hearing anything about fitment, etc,... but I'm sure he'll fill you in. Here is a link to the subject on his web site. http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/...less_lines.htm

I've installed 3 sets of the LBP lines - 1 set on my L and 2 sets on some friends L's.

Rear lines fit perfect - you will need to "shape" them to fit just right, but they are really close to start with.

If I recall correctly, the distribution block that bolts to the differential isn't an exact fit - I think it is thinner or something than the original. You will need a shorter bolt I think.

Overall, they fit great.

Nice! All I'm going to get is the rear lines. I already have the Russell kit on the truck and it included the front lines and the rear center line. That rear center line has the distribution block on it and it fit fine. So all I need to do is get the rear lines and screw them right in. Thanks for the info, you just helped me make my decision.

What is the reason for upgrading the brake lines?

something to do with heat? or you can't stop fast enough?

Can't that be solved with slotted and vented discs?

For me it's just part of completing the package. I already have slotted rotors and braided lines up front.

Brake pedal feel for one thing. Mine was much stiffer with the braided steel lines. I had mine made, since no one was selling them back then.
