Talking Getting new heads from factory

I meant to tell ya'll last week but my '99 blew a spark plug out of the head last week or maybe it just backed itself out b/c the tech didn't put the plug in correctly when they did plugs as part of intercooler fix three months ago....I don't know.

But here is interesting part, the tech said you couldn't order just one head, that they had to order a set of heads. I thought our heads were the same as regular f-150's, just that the compression was different. He also said they would be higher performance, not that I put alot of faith in everything they tell me, but is this possible.

The only thing I could think of is when regular 5.4's went from 235hp to 260hp in '99, did the hp come from head changes? That might be a possibility...anyone who knows, I'm open for suggestions. Or could just be b.s. from the service advisor.

later,

Collin

My understanding is that our heads are the same ones used on the 99 and up 4.6 mustang GTs and that the heads are responsible for the power increase. I am not 100% sure but I believe this is accurate. YMMV

Cool

Collin,

I'm sorry to hear about your latest troubles. I wish I had an answer for you on the heads but I really don't know. If you get it fixed by this weekend give me a holler because the first test-n-tune is Sun. (18th) 1-5 pm.

Now I know why you've got that large detached garage besides your regular garage. You need a place to keep all those toys, LOL.

P.S. I don't think you should go for the weave just so you can have a mullet, LMOA.

Talking

Hey Chuck,

Yeah that mullet thing is funny isn't it! Well, I talked to the tech on Wednesday and he said he was able to order a head and they are not different from stock, which I figured was correct, and he should be finished on Monday. I'm leaving for the 500 at 10:30 a.m. today so I'll miss the test-n-tune.

Later,

Collin
