2001 Crank

I can't seem to find out if my crank is forged or cast...

either way what are HP limits to both?

I have an 01 L.

I plan on building it soon... and my goal is 500RWHP RELIABLE...

and need to know if the stock crank is ok for this?

thanks...

HI!... In the regular N/A 5.4's. But that's still hit and miss. Even after 02 it's a 50/50 chance to get a forged steel crank in any of the regular N/A 5.4's. All LIGHTNING and NAVIGATOR 5.4's come stock with a forged steel crank. Now if you got a remanufactured 5.4 from FORD to replace a LIGHTNING engine under warrenty that you might have got a cast steel crank.

Neal is right. All Lightnings and Navigators come with forged steel cranks.

Is there any way to tell if it's cast or forged just by looking at it?

I have one out of my 03 N/A 5.4 and was wandering whether it's good or just junk.

Phil

My original 2002 motor had a cast crank. I couldnt believe it. I replaced it with a steel crank and now a billet. Sal had a cast crank for 2 years making about 1000 hp, if my memory serves me right.

HI!... I believe SAL's engine was a FORD remanufactured engine due to he blew the original LIGHTNING engine. All reman 5.4 engines come with the cast crank.
