Post Newbie question on Lightnings

First time to the world of Lightnings, as I'm shopping for one now. I was just involved in an accident, due to a careless driver, in my Ranger, which totalled the truck. While shopping around, a Black '93 Lightning caught my eye.
The basics on it: '93, K&N, mostly stock, tinted windows, 101k miles, at a dealership, for $9k.

First of all, how do I find out the production number, or production date of the vehicle? Is there a plate somewhere that lists this? Are there any weird problems that I should look for on a used L of this year? The body looks very straight, just slight scratches and bows that show it's age. Interior is immaculate. The dealer received it in yesterday, went down this morning while they were waxing it. About to go back to test drive it.

Is $9k a reasonable price? About how far can I squabble with him over the price?

Thanks in advance for the help. I've wanted an L since '93, and this is my first chance to fulfill one of my dreams (if it all plays right).

You can get the production number by getting the VIN off the truck and calling 1-800-ford-svt

Not sure what they go for now or in your area but just to give you an idea I sold a White 95 L with 39K on it for 16K back in Aug.

For more information on the first gen Lightning you might want to go to www.nloc.org It has a good message board for gen 1 trucks and some other good info like a break down of the differences from 93-95. That is where I got most of my info when I had my 95.
