I called my local(only)svt dealership this morning to see if they had any 2001L.The lady said no.i wasn't surprise..so i said do you have any brochures or something about the 2001.She said no,they only get them a couple of weeks before the trucks arrive.So i said when is that?She says in may.MAY ...I would like to test drive what i'm buying before giving $41g's:-)...i might call pontiac toomorow,to see if i can test drive the ws.6...who knows McDonald pontiac buick might just get a sale...and wood motors in fredericton new-brunswick canada might loose a couple of sales...my father is also interested in a new truck,a f-150 4x4.why does the dealership's in the states get there trucks way earlier than us?..anyways later

What does $41g's Canadian equate to in American $$? Hopefully no more than $32g's...

Tough to get test drives when most trucks are pre-sold. I sure wouldn't have wanted mine used as a test jockey vehicle before I picked it up.

 

$42,000 CDN equals about $27,600 U.S. We are fortunate up here that our list prices are about 1/3 more in CDN dollars when the exchange rate is 1.5. However don't for a minute believe that we earn 1/3 more on our paychecks. $42g's is still $42g's.

And for those of you who would like to come buy an L in Canada, it will only cost you $27,600 US but there is about 15% sales tax to be paid, and you have to wait about six months to take the truck over the border.

I suspect about 95% of Ls purchased have never been test driven. Nobody wants one with miles on it and the dealerships here in Houston were not even allowing the company personell to drive them. I never drove one until I got mine. I was not disappointed!

I test drove 3 or 4 before I got mine. Some people gave me ***** being young and all...but when they saw what I drove up in...everything went a little smoother.

Dealer here in LR did not allow any test drives to anyone. Only the sales manager and service manager were allow to drive it. Of course they could have lied to me, but mine only had 7.8 miles on it when I bought it.

I got to test drive a used 2000 that had 2200 miles on it. None of the SVT dealers would let me test drive a new one.

When mine gets to the dealer I am going to be there to watch it get unloaded, and to make sure they don't scratch the bottom of the bumper. I will then write down the millage, there better not be more than 5 more miles on it when I pick it up.

 

Six month wait is for Free Trade or something.

U.S. bound L's do not have daytime running lights.

 

I picked up a 2001 brochure earlier this week here in Maryland. Has nice big, fold-out picture of a red Lightning. Helps to give a better perspective than all the smaller pictures that have been distributed so far.

The dealer did not have the brochures last week. The dealer ordered themselves a Lightning that will be delivered in a couple or three weeks time.
