Angry Tires hooking

I live in NC and drag race my lightning sometimes my brother has a WS6 and when the pavement is warm I can get my tires to hook and beat him with only a few mods but when it is cold outside I can't get my tires to hook. I just try to ease it off the line but all they do is spin what can I do except taking tire pressure down because that didn't work that well either. Anyone have .02 on this or do they know that lowering kit helps or not. and has anyone heard anything about ibach lowering springs with bilstine shocks or if they exist?

I don't know about everybody else, but when it's cold forget about it. I couldn't even give my friend a race in a LT1 for godness sakes. I finally gave up and said we'll do it when it's warmer. As far as lowering goes,it should make it worse since wieght transfer will be worse. Just my opinion.

Hey Killer, what track do you run at this time of the year? I have a brother-in-law stationed at Pope and I'm thinking of coming down this coming weekend if it don't rain and going over to Kinston to race.

SANDBAGS (3 or 150lbs or so). If it were an option from the factory, Id have them weld it into the fenders or something. Well, not really, but it makes that big of a difference. And I have raced in 20 degree weather. Sandbags + 5 second burnout = good traction. Not have a muffler, it seems, also has a stunning effect on my opponents, at no extra charge. (They wonder what the heck I am doing, and then the light goes green and they are somewhat less prepared)

Exclamation

2 things happen when cold: less traction, more power

The answer is better tires.

Cool

Hey Guy,
Lowering you truck will hurt, adding Cal trac bars will help. Just adding these bars gave me 1.85 - 1.90 60 ft. times with the F1's. I was seeing 2.01 and such. I did not see any difference on the street but the track was a different thing.

I get consistent 1.90-1.90 60' times on F1's with no traction help. I have no traction on the street though. Some tracks just hook well. Lloyd
