Maximum HP Suggestions?

My new Lightning has a new stock Ford SVT crate motor with only 1200 miles on it. 900 of those was the trip back from Florida. Can some of you Lightning veterans shed some light on what is the maximum HP I should try to get out of this machine? I want as much as I can get but don't want to be sitting on a time bomb either. Help a rookie out!!

Thanks, Mel

i would say to stay in the ball park of 450 rwhp to say in the safe zone, some have gone to 500 and a little higher but most are on the time bomb

It's all in the tune and having the right supporting mods if you want a stock block motor to last...Once you get up in the 500rwhp range many would say your playing "Russian Roulette" with the longevity of your motor.

I see that you are showing 509rwhp. Are you running a built motor or stock?

CONGRATS WELCOME TO THE FAMILY AND BEST OF LUCK

400 RWHP and your in the 12's
500 RWHP and your in the 11's
(above #'s are give or take)

If you want piece of mind your NOT chewing up the motor stick @ 450 RWHP as said. That makes for one Fun A$$ Lightning and it'll be fast as schitt. If you want you can also get a race tune also (for the track only) and push it a little more on race day ONLY. If you get sick of 450 on the street some day then consider pushing it "a little more". I ran my old 02 stock block to as much as 500 HP on the spray and at 15000 miles the motor was still running strong and pumping out consistant 11's BUT when I decided to rebuild it for piece of mind there were numerous bearings on the verge of spinning.
At 500 HP it's one of those, some get away with it, and some dont.....

Yes, I am still running a stock block for the moment. At least until the end of the summer. I currently have two different tunes that I run for street and track. One is the race tune as seen in sig.. and street tune is set at 455rwhp..All I need to do is a pulley swap and switch to race tune when I feel the need for speed...

Welcome to the board..... And watch out for the "Mod Bug"....

The shop doing the work said 450 to 460 is the most they like to see go out the door on a stock block. I guess they are right on the money. Thanks for all the help. Gotta BOLT!!

450HP don't get crazy with the Boost levels that can throw you into the VB club as well, Rob pretty much hit it on the head..
